Drive it Matt, you'll regret not doing it. Some of the best stretches of road out past Sydney. I towed to Summernats this year and I'll never do it again, to much concerntration required, especially if theres some wind around.
I'm in the same boat, noisy car, can't hear the radio and a car revving at 3800-4000 rpm for 12 hours. You get used to it plus lots of fuel stops about 220km per tank so plenty of time to straighten the legs.
If your serious about going let me know and I'll give you the details of the motel we stayed at last year, 10 min from beach, good rooms with parking at your door and cheap.

Cheers Chris

RTS Guy

with regard to the Dinner. The dinner will be held at the Newcastle Jockey Club, Broadmeadow (only three minutes from the CBD).

Once the tickets are printed up and ready to go, we will make the announcement on where, and how, they can be purchased. An advance ticket offer will be made here approx 1 month prior to public sale to ensure that those coming to Toranafest can decide whether they will attend the dinner. I can tell you all that Ticket prices for the Dinner will be $99.00 pp. This includes a three course meal and a 4hr beverage package of beer, wine and softies.

With regard to parking, the NJC boasts 300 onsite car parks that are security patrolled. This should ensure the security of everyones cars for the night.

As Huddo as stated it will be a big night and it is surely something not to miss.

cheers
Mick

At $99.00 pp I will be having a hard think on that one.
Assuming I make Toranafest this year that is. $99.00 goes a a long way towards my car on my tight budget.

Cheers
Herne

I would love to attend that dinner and hear the speakers though, thats for sure.

I should be there, with my mum, step dad, my partner, her dad and he pop.

I could probably convince Sterling Moss to come down too if you want to add to the tally of well known attendees!

Can't wait! Toranafest is always an awesome show and this function will no doubt make it even better. Plenty to do to the green car between now and then, plus the girlfriend's LC will hopefully be on the road by September too (engine goes in this Saturday :spoton: )- might make a weekend of it.

I like the sound of doing a mass booking at a hotel for the weekend and organising security to keep an eye on the cars overnight. It's worth it for the peace of mind if nothing else. Bring it on!! :D :tease: :spoton:

Sterling moss might be a long shot! i think he lives in britain, but i do have a postal address for him through my partners grandpop.

Frank gardner is only in QLD and is still good mates with Max Aubert.

Sorry to get your hopes up i meant to include :P at the end of that.

But i will ask Max who else he knows from the old days, and who would like to come! I know he is good mates with Alan Grice, and still is.

What time would this dinner be starting as at this stage I'd be quite keen to attend.
Just that I,m driving from Melb and I don't really want to be rushing.
Sounds like it'd be a great night and a great way to kick off the toranafest weekend.

Cheers Chris

Bob Morris, Jim Hunter, Alan Grice and Frank Gardner all still talk to my partners Grandpa, so it wouldnt be much of an effort to ask if anyone wanted it. Max is pretty keen to come himself just to look.

Hi
Any room for a LX Torana (so not show car) with a EFI 304 fitted in the not finished cat. I could be tempted to drive down and bring the torrie this year not the commodore like last year.

I'll have a talk to Bob Morris. Apparently the A9X Nationals are going to be up there and he is our patron. I just got an interesting phone call from some bloke who is having a birthday up there too lol. Should be a good meeting
