Sorry to hear that Matt.
Do you have wreck retention?
The mechanicals would slot quite nicely into your spare hatch! :)

No way, not when there is about 5000000000000 cars at auction at the moment, i reckon they'll get a few grand for it.

Damn, that sux....

Its the roof damage that really kills it I guess.

It wouldn't be that hard to replace the bonnet or the glass, but the roof is a totally different story....

I agree with Josh. Keep it and drive it : )

Paint it flat black, put a bull bar and some 4x4 tyres and go redneck style : )

Real bummer about your ute.

If i keep it, i dont get a payout, and the car drops massively in value... LOL

I'm going to have fun driving it for the next few days thats for sure :spoton:

Didn't tick the 'salvage rights' option Matty?

That sucks anyway, hate seeing good cars turfed :|

Was never offered to me when i signed up... Will be asking for it on the next car!

I don't think that newer cars have the 'salvage option' though.... reading through the PDS thats how it sounds.

So, suggestions for a new car?

VT-Z 6cyl on gas, save some cash, pay off the loan and spend the difference on the torana.

VT-VX SS for 8-12k, pay out the loan and still have a fast car!

Or spend the full 16.5k on something?

Or any other suggestions?

Problem is, i have nothing to swap it back with... Or time :(

I have thought about putting in a bid at the auctions... its a lot of work to get back on the road though.... Think i might just cut my losses and see it as a positive!

Now i'm $90 a week richer (car loan)! and the fuel bill on a new car will be less! but it will be slow as shit and not as cool or enjoyable to drive!

I'm having a few beers now, pretty down about it all....

It would be a bit clich to say it's a blessing in disguise, but maybe it's a good oppurtunity to try something completely different? How about a jap car like (simply one example) an AWD Subaru wagon. Can get a manual that has a bit of poke, good for driving around the Dandenongs and plenty of room in the back. If you want to have little ones it wouldn't hurt to have something 'safe' like that.

Obviously there are heaps of options but getting some six cylinder slushbox Commodore is going to be pretty depressing after driving a 6spd 5.7L V8 powered car with next to no weight over the rear end.

I won't be buying a jap car! Trust me on that one!

I have thought about getting a 4WD though.... could be good fun!

I also have started thinking about an BA XR6T or XR8...
