ok..its not really my buggy motor obviously but this is what happens when you spend a crap load of money on a $200 dollar HQ...

Motor is a 540 Cubed Dart block with Pro 1 heads...Turbo is aTurbonetics Pro Thumper. This same size turbo makes 2600hp on 5 litre engines over in the states..Thats a 6 inch pipe exiting from the turbo running into twin 5 inch exhausts all the way to the back.. These pics were taken while work was still in progress on the exhaust and the floor was cut out to make way for a custom set up moulded around the exhaust system. The complete engine fits under the bonnet and this car wil be driven on the street.

This combo is easily capable of making well over 2300rear wheel horsepower.

Got this strait from outerlimits 4x4 forums..

Ai-currumba, gonna need bigger wheels and upgraded everything. And whos the midget in the last photo holding the turbo? :D He looks familiar.

This combo is easily capable of making well over 2300rear wheel horsepower.

I can imagine it now, (just like in an old western movie) where a cart is drawn across the countryside, but with 2300 super fast horses. Hold on!

Thats a nice little V8 dinosaur John, Has it been raced yet? How does it do?

turbo lag was created to give v8's a chance.... what happens when you have a v8 with turbo lag?

Youve got no chance till it comes on boost then its all over red rover ;)

Dont forget.. that any car even while lagging is still moving and still making SOME power! I think 500 odd cubes would be moving at a reasonable pace even though its starving for air...

heheheheheheheh Big Enough for ya..

just to give you an idea of the size of the turbo..

shane ( the guy holding it) is 6 foot 6 and 140 kg so he isnt a small boy..

and with my puny arms i can barely hold it at all...

Quoted of the forum i found this on..

Wouldn't you simply install a bigger stall converter to over come turbo lag?

Chop even with a 6000rpm stall convetar and a transbrake that thing will need 4 weeks to spool up that turbo...

JapXU1: You are correct techncically speaking, though i have seen cases wehre even the free revving gasses froma big engine werent enough to bring a monster turbo on boost. It took the engine to be loaded and already moving for it to REALLY begin boosting!

THe other drama with having an engine that has inbuilt large ammounts of lag is that by the time the engine is at 6000Rpm ( for the sake of the argument) and the turbo spools up, youve only got a couple of thousand RPS of usable power band left! Hard on the engines and stuff... BUT.. what an AWESOME couple of thousand it would be ;)

I heard it to put to me that the trick mansweto cars make all their power in a rev range of ( like) 1000Rpm... its all up really high which is perfect for a dyno car.. but not so good for drivablility!

Anyway.. thats my 200 Baht worth ( yes i'm off to thailand) for this discussion :)

Cheers!
