You would think so and also Honda if they got involved.
But then there is that "parity" thing.

Parity is crap, it has never worked in the past, it just creates frustration and confusion.

It is more interesting to see cars that are different utilising there individual strengths ie XU1 vs GT Falcon.

i dont like the "switching from a pushrod engine to a quadcam design" part.

They are talking about utilising engines that wont have to work as hard...

Half the drama that is left in the touring cars is the engines, wihtout the possible failures, the on the rev limiter action etc etc, its just going to get more and more boring (see NASCAR)

What new cars from Toyboyta and Mitsubitchy come with a V8?

The Toyboyta landcrusher has a 4.5 V8 but I suspect the handling maybe a challenge. :tease:

To tell you the truth, the current racing does not exit me that much any more for the reason JBM pointed out.

Does having a V8 really matter? I like to see other makers try to beat a V8 with their turbo 4s and 6s.

what is there thats production car parts on a ve supercar? sfa! the new falcon will be the same. As for parity that is what we have now! so any other manufacturer just has to put a 9inch diff locate the arrms at the same reference points as ford and gm do fit a set of rail with the same front suspension as a ve/ bf do some aero test so as the down force is the same and before you no it youve got a v8 supercar honda merc chrysler whatever. moving to a overhead cam engine its about time as a bit of new technology is a good thing.

My two cents worth.....................

Bring on the other manufactures!!! I love the Ford vs Holden Battle. But would rather a Holden vs Ford vs Toyota vs Mitsibitchy.

Anyway think of it this way...Wasn't one of the BEST Torana victories at bathurst was the XU1 beating the GTHO Falcon?? David vs Goliath made that a great race. To see the little guy get up and win against the odds was awesome. The cars are that similar today in performance/looks/handling that the winner is decided more on luck, or the other teams lack of it.

So many people say they like to see more brands and cars closer to standard, but we went through this in the late 80s /early 90s with Group A. Small fields, small crowds, cars irrelevant to Australia came to dominate it.
V8 Supercars are not that bad....

i vote for chrysler, they have an engine and a 4 door rear wheel drive sedan. it will bring back the great battle of the super car scare days.
toyota would be the closest to having a car, they also have an engine.
under the current rules the cars will be the same anyway.
v8 super cars is getting boring. the biante muscle cars are better to watch. completely different cars, engines and yet the battles are awesome.
there thats my 2 cents. hahaha

The V8 Supertaxis are nothing like the real road cars anyway...the Commodore is 100mm shorter and 150mm narrower or something like that..
Just do what Nascar does...put the Toy/Bishi body on a Floord/GMH,badge it... and race the bastard!...none of them are real cars to the road ones anyway...Bring on Skoda I say!!

I think the body should come off the production line. All panels must be the same as the road car. No carbon fibre no lightening of panels, Move back to the 'H' pattern box, Engine blocks have to be the same as the road car.

i'm on the bench here.

Love my motorsport, all types, Even watch the F1 line up for some display laps but if an aussie wasn't in it (even one with the worlds worst unlucky streak)i probably wouldn't watch.

Sort of fell out of supertaxi in 07, again, not enough excitement (generally). Before that, if motorsport was on the box, don't interuppt me. I grew up on touring cars, and even had a work contract once that stipulated i would work public holidays including christmas if on call, but it exempted bathurst weekend.

Been to the hill back in the old days with bikes, but have not missed a bathurst on tele since i was 12 (do the math, its about 100 years ago). Came close twice in the army, and once when we booked to go on holidays and the local motel we crashed into had a power failure. (good story for another time)

The theatre room at home owes itself to motorsprt.

I'm a big fan of nascar, and while everyone argues that its processional, i find it very exciting. Again, having ambrose there made me keen to watch more but i was a fan long before that. You just didn't see it on tele that easy.

I'd be keen on allowing all the manufacturers back in like the old days, but i don't follow the Improved Production series....

So i'm on the wall, but supertaxis needs something

I don't watch it anymore, its boring as batsh!t.....

I watch Bathurst, but thats about it....

I wouldn't mind seeing it going back to the group A days.....or at least to a situation where there are differences between the cars.

At the moment its all nose to tail all the time which doesn't really float my boat.
