CP5200 is an AP Racing caliper that I will be using on my car
Its the caliper in the pic
They cost $730 each and the Australian distributor is http://www.compfriction.com.au/

As for brackets....... your on your own. No such thing exists yet.
Thats what I'm working on for my own car with UC stubs

easyer and far more cheaper option then ap racing calapers and that.
not everyone has 2 grand plus to do a brake upgrade.
Custom hubs-$250
Redrilled rotors-$50 each
braded lines-$50 each
vt package-$250
being able to stop.............................priceless

yea being able to stop is definately priceless.

the AP calipers in the pic dattoman posted definately pull up.

They are on my torana which stops as well if not better than my GTS coupe with the 360mm rotors.

of couse the ap calipers are going to pull up great but a lot of people carnt aford a brake upgrade like that thats why i have the vt brakes.
think about it all the p platers with there vl turbos and stuff like that i was at calder a few weeks ago 1 of the vl done 11.3 but still had standerd brakes cause he spend all the money on the motor box cpu cooler everything to make it go faster but nothing 2 slow it down. what I guess im trying to say is datomans upgrade is great IF you can aford it but you need to have cheaper options.

For Toranas, Hoppers Stoppers stopped using VT front calipers as the tended to foul. Doesn't sound like a good option to me. VT rear discs would only be good if you had Commodore IRS in your car. So for a Torana, you have front calipers and rear discs that won't fit. More expense to the cheap kit.

i have one of the hoppers 300mm kits which uses au/ba falcon discs and calipers drilled to commodore pattern with VT conversion hub, it fits well on the HR front end with HQ stubs, and it would be SFA difference to the torana front end ...

Hi guys. That AP brake setup looks awesome. It's just what I am looking for. Dattoman, doyou have a price on the complete setup with 4000 series discs? And could I get a copy of the template as I will be running 17 x 8 FR17 Simmons rims on the front of my hatch? Many thanks in advance. Bart

Bart
Look here for a template indication
Template

Bart I can't offer you a price on the kit yet as its not yet done
I have left the brake shop and am now driving a truck
When I get closer to putting my own car back together I will let everyone know the costs
Still got brackets to design and get made

Yes I agree there needs to be options
Thats why we have access to Hoppers Stoppers kits
Which were on special last month to beat the price rise but not a single person responded to the advert. So now the price has gone up again.
The VT caliper isn't easy to fit. Yes its cheap very very cheap. But cheap to buy and hard to fit do not make an easy life.
Who's going to supply the hubs ? Who's going to make the brackets ? Whos going to do the engineering report ?

Sounds good and all the best with your new venture. :spoton:

I'm curious about the Harrop drum adaptors. Does this then allow you to use the park brake setup as used in late model Commodores?

I think I've worked out what I'll be doing with my front brake upgrade (thanks largely to this forum!) but I'm 100% sure what to do with the rear end. Presently I have a 9" diff housing running standard rear drums. What I would like to do is convert the rear brake setup to that of a late model Commodore (including the park brake also).

Contact Damien at Harrop
Ask him about the conversion setup for the rears
They need your commodore backing plates which they modify to suit the later style caliper
Then they provide a little drum that goes inside the centre of the late model disc to allow you to use the early backing plate.
Then it in theory all bolts up (VT on brakes)
Its about $600 though to do the mods and supply the reducing drums.

Do you have a part number for the HSV rear calipers to suit the DBA 020 discs?

Still waiting on those part numbers Neil.

Neil, I've now decided to run Ford stud pattern on the beast. So instead of using the 019, I would then need some sort of hub adapter and possibly an undrilled VT style disc. What would be the best way around this? I have also seen some very nice 19" rims I would love to use. So this means I could use something a bit bigger than the 330 mm discs. So do you have another kit in mind that would fill the void?
