I can relate to the use of the word " theoretical " for a start date. Both my UC's understand that.

Now that I've sold the front discs, I'm now in less of a rush than I had been. Let me know when the brackets are done and I'll buy another set of discs. Do you have a part number for the HSV rear calipers to suit the DBA 020 discs?

That's OK, I won't be touching the street UC until the drag car is finished. That may or may not be this year.

Datto, those adaptors are still sounding like something I would be interrested in too when you have them under way - I have plenty to keep me busy until then anyway.

Keep us all posted.

Phil
Mate if I could be any sicker I don't know how
Since I saw you last I've had recurring chest infections, gout and now I have pinched nerves in my back and can barely walk today
Though we did make it to BigAls for a quick look before it got too bad
I think I saw you as we left going down GE Hwy heading home.
We will have to catch up for beer soon
And yes I'd love to see pics of your front brakes now they are finally on

I have my car apart now so I'll be working on getting the brackets organised so I can fit the same setup to my own car

Just FYI for those reading this "the gts" has the AP 4 pot calipers and 330mm 2 piece DBA discs on his Torana using the CRS stub axles setup for Commodore brakes
The adaptor brackets I usually would use on Commodores didn't quite fit so Phil had to make up his own brackets to move the caliper slightly to clear the tierod end

You might need to make some more brackets for the rest of us Phil........lol

I'll be intouch soon re beer mate.
Please send pics to [email protected] and I'll host them up.

I know all about that, I've had the same back problem several times. Two questions, firstly can you give me a part number for the AP calipers. Secondly, do you have any idea on how much you would charge me to make and send the AP calipers/DBA 019 disc >> UC stub axles bracket via Aust Post COD to Melbourne?

1. CP5200-808S4 and CP5200-809S4.
2. The calipers come from my supplier in ACT
The discs I can have shipped out of DBA Melbourne (we use DBA4019 nowdays- same price better disc)
So freight I would need to find out for you
3. Brackets I have to make first before I can price. But they would easily fit in a 3kg airbag.... maybe even a 1. So cheap postage on those.
I'll get back you when they are in production

#1 Thanks.

#2 I'll be in Canberra next weekend, but since I'm not charging Herne $1500 to deliver the engine, they may have to wait. What so much better about the other discs?

#3 I can wait, as I may not be starting the street UC this year.

The 4000 and 5000 series DBA disc is made of a better grade of cast iron
Its then heat treated and stress relieved
So they will take more punishment and wear out slower.

4019's weigh the same
5000's are lighter in the hat as its alloy, but you need a seperate hub as the pics will show when Phil sends them to me

Dattoman
yea I would say you did see me on GE highway coming off the tonkin. Was I in the gts or a statesman? I did see a pinky coloured rod and a capri.
I think i was coming back from p[icing up some free windscreens from another legendary menber.
The torana is on the road so if you give me a call I will come around and show ya. I wouldnt mind getting your advice on how well the brakes are working.

As for brackets for others I am more than happy to supply final dimensions (when thay are perfect) and machining process but my mate wouldnt be too keen on machining them for everyone. the block of aly cost me $50 so not a bad deal for people that have access to a machine shop

As for ya back I can give the name of a very good chiro down in freo (definately worth the drive) who I am actually going to see today.

will try to take some pics to send you in the next few days as I still need to machine the brackets one more time before im happy.

GET WELL MATE

I only know your GTS mate so thats what I thought I saw

I have someone to machine up my brackets when I finally get the pattern sorted so all is ok...... since I'm using a Torana spindle anyway

I'll be intouch re beer and a look at your car

Cheers
Neil

Dattoman, I'm just about to buy new symmons wheels for my car so that I can run brakes that size. What problems might I come across with back spacing ect I currently have an A9X cross member in the car and want to run 17 x 9's on the front. Any help would be appreciated

17x9 is huge
What I need to do is create a template of the dimansions of this setup
So people can fit the template inside their wheels and see if it fits

I'll try to work on this

Main thing with Simmons wheels is the bolts that hold them together tend to foul the caliper

Isn't that mainly on the 15" and 16" Simmons?

I never liked those rims...

I already have 9inch wheels on the front with BMW 4 spot callipers (not much better braking than the girlocks), they fowl the bolts on the simmons so i had to put an 8mm spacer on the hub to clear them, also run -3 camber so the tyres don't fowl the flairs.

They might just fit then
Wait for the template and see if it clears
