That Hatch was a nice find and a good base to start from. Your getting the rust repaired and painted for a steal too. My hatch (project Pheonix) has a bit more rust than yours by the look but for the hours we've spent so far it would have cost me more than your being charged for the whole lot. Looking forward to the updates.

If you need to look at any more White/Black Hatches check the link in my sig below (before I rolled it)

Thanks Mick.
Thats what i was thinking. Have you got any pics of your hatch. It looks similar to what im trying to achieve.
Thanks a lot.
Tom

Hi Tom,

Geeze I'm a slack bast@@d. I thought I sent you some photo's but obviously I didn't.

Your hatch is looking good. Here's a couple of photo's for a simple black and white colour scheme.

I painted mine Contillon white with blackouts.

Mick.

Thanks Mick, ill add them to my photo bank. Your car is exactly what i am going for but i think ill stay with chrome bumpers and i am planning on buying some challengers for it, 15 x 8's on the front and 15 x 10's on the back. I have brought a uc front end for it and have also brought a brake upgrade with the a9x steering arms.
I have a turbo 350 for it, is it very hard to rebuild one yourself? I have looked on ebay and its only 250 for a rebuild kit then a bit extra for a shift kit. I was quoted $1200 to get it professionally rebuilt but i am fairly mechanically minded and wouldnt mind trying it myself.

I'll try to get some constant photos but i was told it will most likely be painted by christmas.

Thanks guys and girls.

I don't know the answer to this one as I can only do basic mechanics. No doubt someone else on the forum can help.

Perhaps ask the question in the 'Driveline' section of Torana Tech.

Yeah i wish... The rust repair and paint is all at mates rates so it takes second fiddle to proper paying work which i completely understand. Just finalising the intake. Planning on fitting the 400 with a hilborn mechanical injection manifold with efi.

Being a poor uni student means funds are not always there. Rust repairs have been completed though. just waiting on the engine bay, underbody and interior to be painted then i get it back for final fitment then send it back.

Thanks guys,

Yeah i got it for a steal really, only $1500 but that was many years ago now. I'm getting the panel beater to smooth over the angled section in the engine bay where the brake lines are mounted as i am using a falcon master and will be hiding the lines.
Have a hilborn mechanical injection manifold in the pipeline as well that im planning on putting electronic fuel injection on. Picked up some 400 forged pistons of ebay the other day, have a new eagle crank, just looking for some alloy heads and some rods.

Cheers.

Ok so a couple of weeks ago i purchased this (thanks toranamuk)

As planned i am going to attempt to convert it to efi. I have been talking to Andy Star from hilborn U.S and he has told me what is required to sequentially run the manifold properly.

Ok so there has been a change of plans, i have just sourced a R31 skyline diff which ill be using instead of the 9". Going with the 3.08 ratio as this will give me 2500 RPM at 100km/hr in 3rd gear with 230km/hr at 5500 revs in 3rd as well. What do you guys think? The 400 should be rather torquey.

Depends on purpose, 3.08:1 ratio is fine to drive behind the 308 and 5 speed in my hatch

It will be for weekend cruising and a couple of small shows. I have a turbo 350 so only 3 gears which is why ive been thinking of changing to a 5 speed manual.

Long time no update. Things are slowly progressing. Shell is painted, k-frame with new hq brakes is in, carpet and headlining is in but awaiting finishing.

I need some serious advice though. I had originally purchased some 300zx seats to go in the front of the hatch and had started organizing the 18V trim for them and the rear hatch seat. The car is white and will have the blackouts. That idea changed a week ago when I fell in love with the chamois trims that are available. Should I A- go standard seats with 18V B- 300zx seats with 18V C- standard seats in 60A, or D-300zx seats with 60A.

I cant make up my mind. I want my car to be a bit different, hence the different seats, Hilborn, custom console and dash.

Thanks in advance.
Tom

Ok so i bit the bullet and purchased the Chamois vinyl with chamois golfball trims.

I will post up some pics of the car tonight. I have also just picked up a set of Racer Pro Heads for my SBC.

So you're getting standard style material custom made to fit the Nissan seats? Should be interesting
