They are asking $35000. Does anyone know of this car or the condition of it?
I think it was the one in Perth for sale about 2 years back. If so, it was also seen at Torana the Great.
It will be interesting to see what this one goes for...

Which one is yours? I am wondering if I have seen it.
Mine has 141000klm, matching numbers and books no flares etc. I am keen to see what this one fetches.. If it is the same one, I heard he turned down $29000 a few weeks ago... At the end of the day they are worth what someone is prepared to pay.

For someone who recently bought one & paid considerably less (approximately half) 6 months ago - it's music to my ears.

An SLR 5000 is pretty much equivealnt to an SS commodore, in there days there was thousands, if you wanted a 5.0L in a torana you had 2 options, either buy an SLR 5000 or an SS with 5.0L, you had to buy one thats why there was heaps.
There a basic car, still cant see $35k in them. I think there at the $20-25k stage, but man that colour is boring big time, now flame away.

$10,000 all stock and originalOk the 5000's are worth a bit, what about a l32 with original engine 100% stock, just out of interest, would like to know what mine's worth when its done

You talk as if every torana with slr5000 decals is a genuine one I can assure you they are not that common even at shows I reckon about 1 in every 6 to 8 is a genuine one which I proved to disbelieving mate at hanging rock. he kept saying theres another one so i would take him over and show him the id plate I realise iam probably being LX specific because i own one but they are not as common as ss commodores my friend.
And as i have always said anyway classic cars are worth what one person is prepared to pay for that particular car.

I also do not see $35,000 in value with an SL/R 5000 as yet, would be interesting to know how many were actually made.
They may have made several thousand but there are not many stock SL/R 5000 around anymore. I dont think it will be to far away before a good example 5000 will get $35,000 no problems.
You only have to look at the jump in the A9X & L34 value the SL/R 5000 had to follow, just like the GTR is following the XU-1 in value increases.
Lets hope it sells for $35,000 as it will set a benchmark in the value of our SL/R 5000's.

I have seen a dozen "L31" tagged cars in the last 4 weeks and I havent been going out of my way to look for them. I can count at least 15 L31's within a 20 minute drive of my place and thats people I know on 1st name basis not including the ones I dont know about.
I still believe there as common as an SS commodore in there day. Not today.

You know the really sad thing about all this $ value banter???
You guys are forgetting about the cars themselves and focussing on the worth of the car.
Think about the reason that you bought that SLR5000 in the first place.... I'm sure it wasn't as an investment.
The XU-1 scene has gone down the same path.. and now the scene is filled with "astute collectors" most who are only interested in the worth of the car. Talk to some of them and they say things like" oh I wouldn't drive my XU-1 it coughs and farts too much or the brakes feel weird"
Chill guys...sure they are an appreciating asset and yes one day they will pay you back 10 fold... untill then drive it enjoy it and forget about how much it is worth today/tomorrow.
Cheers Greg..

Please note I am just taking a conservative guestamate
LS1LX what state & suburb do you live? I very very rarely see genuine stock standard SL/R 5000's. there may be some L31 tagged Toranas around, many of them have been extensivley modified.
Either way stock standard examples with all matching numbers will continue to rise in value & I expect $35,000 would not be an unrealistic figure in the near future.

Yes that is correct. However it wasn't untill the late LX Toranas/A9X vintage that this transfer was widely used. It originally appeared on the LH Plus 4.I always thought the LX had the Torana sticker on nose cone & not a badge. The LH has the badges spelling TORANA across front of nose cone.

Thats exactly true, an xu1 with tripple carbs needs to be driven hard, you cant baby those tripples by putting around town, drive them how they were ment to be. Not stupidly but dont drive like a granny. My 2 cents....

But you are incorrect LX SLR5000 had sticker as well.
Why would painting a car make you put a sticker on in place of a badge anyway.
You only have to look at the LX slr 5000 brochures to see the sticker on those cars left hand side of nose cone.
