Well after 5 long months almost to the day I finally have my dashes back from Dash original.And I'm very happy, but the fasia has come back wrong I have a 6/73 LJ GTR and believe the 73s came out with only a silver strip around the outside not every guage.Can anyone confirm this please.Sorry for the poor picture quality they were taken from my moblie.Just moved house and can not find the camera yet.

is there a web site for dash original or does anybody have there phone number? i have a original silver slr5000 dash and want to get it reconditioned but is it a better idea to buy the wood grain one get it reconditioned and leave the slr silver one untouched?

I can see two mistakes. The screw hole in the dash facia is silver. Mistake two is that the silver stencilling around the heater control panel slide controls and fan switch should not be there. I remember saying a long time ago that the $660 they were charging for a SS resto was a bargain. Even the price they charge now is fair if you are to do one to a high standard.

I sent an LC control panel, LC GTR metal door trim plates plus ordered roof lining and a set of LJ XU1 trims about 8-9 weeks ago.
The roof lining was to be ready in 3 weeks of placing order, its ready now 8 weeks later, asked them to hold off sending stuff seperately and buddle up everything together
...so how long will that be....
MARCH 2009 !!!!!
Has anyone actually recieved stuff off them in a reasonable time frame?
My hoodlining has arrived
still a 3 months wait for the door cards and console restencil

Worth the wait, I used the time to get some funds together - had heaps of fun screwing it together after that. Also really happy with the Dash Original result, although, I'm in Adl which made it a little easier..

As any buisness inundated with work I guess there a waiting times for those who choose to go through them!
The work done by Dash Original is well worth the wait, I have seen the work they have done on Bullit's HK GTS and the interior is better than new.!

Ge wiz I get annoyed at the unreal expectations of some of you out there.
It takes a year or two to restore a car, I know I have done 5.
Some people still wait till they have the shell done and then decide to get their dash, door cards etc restored.
You have got to realise you are dealing with LOW volume highly skilled work. YES LOW VOLUME. We are talking dozens not thousands as at production. It is a small business doing great work to satisfy people that more often than not expect better than original. IT aint NASCO.
For any company to employ say 12 people there are only effectively 11 at work as each has 4 weeks annual leave. Now throw another 5 sickies each that is now 10 3/4 persons. Add other miscellaneous leave and you are down further. I could not emagine Dash Original could afford to employ a large workforce.
To keep skilled workers they also need guaranteed work at least 6 to 12 month ahead to make it viable for them and for the workers security. So there could never be a guarantee of on time.
Each specialist job is different. Lets look at what is given to them. Is it clean, are door card metals straight and painted ready to go etc etc. I know if I were doing the work the clean, easy ready to go ones would be done first to get the fastest turn over. And I would tend to batch work for efficiency. Of course not all of the employees can do everything. So whilst the dash pad might be done the rest might not. So send it all together?? Now the company has to enlarge its storage facilities and delay receiving payment for work done until it is all done. For this service I would expect a large deposit to cover materials and other service providers used as they have to be payed for.
Talking turn over, lets look at how the business makes money. The first fact is turnover is not profit which may be only 20%. It is a Labour intensive process so the majority of operating expense is payrole. So they need to get things out as quickly as possible to get cash flow in.
The answer is whoever it is you deal with;
1 Get your pieces in with plenty of time.
2 Make sure it is ready, clean, straightened etc
3 Provide all information necessary to get what you want. Do not rely on them knowing everything.
4 Understand it is a specialist service and be reasonable with your expectations.

When I had my dash restored, I was told the turn around time would be six weeks. Six months later, I still had not received my dash. When I finally received my dash, it was broken (more likely due to the courier) but parts of the dash colour did not match each other. One part was the ash tray, another part was the paint around the LH side vent. Fortunately I purchased an ash tray face plate from Rare Spares and it matched the rest of the dash perfectly. The paint around the LH side vent, still to this day, doesn't match the rest of the dash and it annoys the hell out of me.
I'm happy to wait long periods and pay good money for professional work, as would most people on this forum but companies need to be honest and upfront about the time frame they need to complete the work.

guys i understand your frustration but if they where to rush and give you your parts back quickly and made mistakes you would still be complaining 
so they cant win. i had my hk monaro interior retrimmed from roof lining to carpet i was told 2 months 11 months later and $10k i got the stuff back but what a job they only have 3 trimmers working there and have work coming out of there axxholes so cut them a bit of slack hey! as we are so lucky to have these guys doing our old cars i have seen lots of other motor trimmers and they dont come close to the work and detail these guys produce.

As I've already mentioned, just give the customer an honest time frame in which they can complete the task. Then the customer can make the decision whether he/she is willing to wait or start exploring other avenues to get the work done.
I know that they are flat out and probably have taken on more work than they can handle. For this, I do appreciate their efforts as they could easily just stop taking orders and a lot of us would be left in the lurch and disappointed.

My trims have arrived.
One word ...perfect
The lc gtr trims in black n silver look fantastic...I've put them up against my oldies and they're a perfect match.
I also sent off a blue lc control panel to have recoloured black with new stencils and to be honest it looks like they have supplied me a brand new black one from GMH !
And my nephew was stoked when he laid eyes on his spanking new black long grain xu1 trims...wow they're also stunning.
Without a doubt there worth the wait guys

Too right mate, once I get your car out of the way I'll get stuck into fitting a rubber kit new glass all the trim can go in, then all thats left is exhaust and setting up suspension

motive industry when asked when do you want it.

And make sure if you ask for you old seat trims back that you get them as you maybe told they were thrown out
