Hit bit of a wall with it today :(
The nice set of 15 inch simmons with yokohoma tread are no good as the inside of the front rims hit on the ball joints. Will run spacers down the track but wont get through engineers like that so looks like im up for another set of farken wheels just to get certificate done!!! GRRR!!!

anyone else come across this?

Brett

I think Retro wheels are now selling the 15" rim pieces.
Around $150 + labour/rim.

Could it just be hitting the bleed nipple on top of the ball joint?

had a closer look last night and its actually rubbing on the plate above the ball joint, close to where the bleed nipple is!
Looking into getting some narrower inners for the two front wheels, should get me out of trouble if i can find any! on the right track you think?

Can't quite remember the brand but the was an aftermarket top ball joint that was alot thinner with no bleed nipple that may just get you out of trouble, earlier pics look like you still had the standard ball joints which are quite chunky in comparison to aftermarket ball joints.

With the rims it's more likely that you may need to go to a different offset like a hq.

spoke to retro wheels yesterday. They have narrower inners for the front, $260 bucks a wheel flus frieght up and back from melb :( !!! Considering its something most of us can do ourselves im gunna try figure out a way to get just the inners sent down. If im going to be spending $600 or so ill just buy another set of 16 or 17 inch simmons or something!

Will have a look tonight again but its rubbing on the plate not the ball joint itself!

cheers

Can you post a pic m8 of the offending area?

It might give us a better idea of the problem.

I assume Retro are quoting you the price with labour? They dont think that us [as comsumers] have the ability to sequence torque down the bolts. More to do with legalities me thinks. :)

Well after another long stint of no progress on car i have had some wind blown up my arse to get it done by december for my sister in laws wedding so its back on like donky kong now!
Considering i have gone from drum to disk brake rear end whats by mest booster/master cylinder combo?

Other question i have if if i put handbrake on floor on a lever instead of a pedal will i have any issues with engineers passing it?

Will get some more photos up as i progress but between now and december car WILL be finished and on the road finally. Cant believe it was 2008 when i first posted on the forum about my plans with the car. Understand why it takes people 10 years to do a full resto on a car now!

Bit more progress on my project guys,
Rear brakes are now completed, full vs Commodore rear brake set up, disks, calipers pads and brake lines. Handbrake cable getting delivered next week then we will be fixing a few little things and will be off to exhaust shop. Been a bloody long project but I'm nearly there! Will get some pics up when I can figure out how!

Not as yet mate, need to look again at the options to get that sorted out. Just running some spacers at the moment!

Handbrake cable measured up and ordered, have been doing some club stuff and my LH will be going on a club permit.
After 5 years it is so close now, putting some peddlers springs and shocks in front as the rear already has peddlers gear.
Will be off to exhaust ship in around 3 weeks, tidy up a few small things then get inspected and club plates.

Spent last 2 days working on it. UC handbrake lever mounted on floor, used a vn handbrake cable and modified it to suit. Needs some adjusting but seems to be working ok.
Pumped brakes up and pedal came good after a couple of leaks got sorted.
Booked in for exhaust Tuesday!
