Well here it is, Juggernaut. The shoutbox crew have heard a bit about it, but pics have finally arrived!

First, a bit of history. After I got home after finishing school, I noticed that the footpath outside my house had been removed. Our driveways were no good, no cars in or out. All of this meant that I couldn't get the MIG into the yard to work on the LJ. So instead, to keep myself busy, I bought an old dragster off of a mate for $30 and got stuck in :D

Started off something like this (This isn't the actual bike, and the one I bought was in nowhere near as good a condition :P) but without the gears or shiny stuff. But it had a reasonable sissy bar and set of ape hangers on it.

I started ripping into it as soon as I got it home, stripping it down to a bare frame. Then the mods started :spoton: I don't have any pics of the first couple of mods I did, but you should be able to get a bit of an idea from this pic:

And from the other side:

Posted Image

In that, I have:

  • Stretched the frame a couple of times
  • Raked the headstem back
  • Filled the rear of the frame in
  • Removed the seat post
  • Moved the crank forward
  • Added a brace into the front of the frame

Here you can see how the chain is going to get through the panel at the back :P

Posted Image

I just used a piece of steel from another bike frame, it will look like the chain is disappearing into nowhere :P

Then I used a donated VE door skin to fill the front of the frame in:

Then stripped the paint off of it and mocked it up for a photo :P

More to come tomorrow, the crank is gunna go forward yet again, and the forks need modifying :D

Note second paragraph of the first post... Yeah I know, poor excuse, but I'm over it. And it's easier to get away with riding a bike after a couple of beers than it is if I was driving...

Dunno about daily... But weekend cruiser, definitely. I pretty much only built it as a better alternative to walking when I'm drinking :P

Thanks Jake :spoton: Wait until tomorrow night's update. Tomorrow's job is to remove yet another major structural piece of the frame and replace it with something that looks and works better :D And if I get time, build a new set of forks.

Cheers Mick :D It feels great to be able to start with an old bike frame and a couple of doorskins, and end up with something as cool as this :D

Alright, maybe it was 3 or 4 old bike frames :P

Thats cool work there Tim. After the first picture I said to myself that would look heaps cooler with the front section filled in like a tank, and then the a few pics latter there it was. We must have some sort of similarity in our heads mate. Need to put a filler cap on in with a suction tube coming out of it, and petcock in the bottom for a drain plug. Fill it up with Wild Turkey and Coke and I could ride that bitch all day. Rolling esky, now that would make for a fun day.

Cheers for the comments guys and girls.

Gav, one day I'll rebuild my tandem. The trailer that I build for that has room for at least 3 normal sized eskies and a CD player, and has a bar at the front :D

Baz, that thing is nuts. Would be nothing short of dangerous to ride :P

Tonight's update will be a good one ;)

Do it :spoton: It's a great way to hone your metalwork skills, and it doesn't really cost anything.

Made a decision last night, Juggernaut is getting flamed :D Probably silver flames on gunmetal...

More pics to come tonight. It look SO much different now!

Tim
