Hey all,

Well i have the engine in the car now, just slowly putting all the bits back on.

I ended up painting it black, it doesnt look too bad, i used a gloss so we will see how it goes once the motor is running, it will more than likely burn off.

Just a quick question, as it has been so long since i pulled it out, i cant remember if the lower alternator bracket goes in front of the alternator or behind, and which bolt on the timing case cover the other end if it goes too.

Any help here?

Black engine in black HG engine bay. Lots of chrome though, and HPC coated pipes.

Mines Black also and i have a blue car.

Looks great, although i think u need the chrome. black and crome goes well

i Think a satin black looks best! then u can tell exacly where ur leaks are.

go black u wont go back

My pick would be either Chevy Orange or Rocket Red, I think they look great in any colour car, but the better of the two has to be Chevy Orange

Cheers Matt

i did the silver paint thing a few years ago on a v6. sounded like a good idea at the time.... but its not aluminum, so why try and make it look aluminium. (just my opinion, even though it did look allright, just wrong)

i had vht engine blue (real bright blue, like brock blue) in a gunmetal bay on my first torana. that looked shithot.

this time im just going to go black, maybe a fine silver mist over the top??

i think understating the engine/car is a good thing.

It's only paint! Nobody is trying to state the engine is aluminium.

People paint engines all sorts of colours, it's purely a personal choice.
