Hi all, After advertising an xu1 on price check some eagle eyed forum member had spotted the No 1 LC GTR produced. There was quite a excitement about it so thought I'd ask the owner if we could post a few pics of the GTR a week after it was purchased by mates friend new. He worked at GMH and I take it thats how he was the first to purchase the No1.

We all know the color is cashmere white and most of us now know chassis no: 5

After long conversation with the owner today to show the pictures he is more than happy to let the forum members enjoy and ask yourself the question why is the torana painted these colors?? my mate knows the reason but would be interested if anyone else knows as I didn't.

The car was sold in 71.

This is exactly the way this torana drove out of holden - original owner had not tampered with the car at all.

REGARDS, ALDO

Was it destined for police or race duty? The paint shops's LSD arrived that day? Looks bloody horrible, imo.

the problem is its not the first built,,, i know that ands you also know that fly.
you can think what you want but i have the books on colour and numbers built by gmh in 69 70 and 71, so no matter how or who you think has what,,,, i know,,, but the bad part about it is,,,,, YOU KNOW I KNOW.

Its PAINT TAG
BODY 5-A

its chassis number is LC000130A

and also Aldo the new owner did know that there was an agreement between me and the previous owner and the current owner offered an extra 5K

Interesting paint scheme.
Was it painted that way to make it difficult for the "spy" photographers
to get a clear pic of it while being tested at the Holden proving grounds??

Thanks for the info and pics Aldo - facinating. I could never quite work out how the body number, in this case 5A, matched up to the production number. I assume this means the 5th LC body (built in Adelaide), but the first GTR. Any idea as to the whereabouts of any other of the very early cars? There were a few used in the promotion of the LC so presumably they were early numbers as well,

cheers

Ok im going to add fuel to the fire im 100% sure there is a forum member with an lc gtr that has original number plates issued on his melbourne car now his rego starts with a K as the car above but the next two letters are way before the above car mentioned would that not make his gtr built before the one above im just guessing but dont rego plates come alphabetic order im not bagging the car aldo just want the truth.

glacier 73 hi there would be many toranas and other cars with the number plates earlier than this gtr in discussion
this gtr was built on the 18/september/1969
it sat at gmh until 1971 it was then 1st ever registed and sold in mid 1971
if u look at the photo with the 2 gtrs u will see that the orange gtr has earlier number plates fitted
i hope this helps
regards aldo

first GTR built at Brisbane on 18/9/69 is H 139098 or 3 metsbac 34203C0
sold date ...000
dealer.....000
this is car 4 on the vin disc list with top 3 cars all having 000 prefix for all there details
