See those pretty red rubber bits at the end of the braid that goes under the steel fitting and crimps

When they get hot enough the rubber goes soft and the hose pulls out of the crimp
They are NOT recommended for motorsport applications

Been nice knowing ya

I am fine with them...Brakewest in Melb have the same style on Ebay,,,as do 95% of the other listings...maybe they have moved forward with design?..All ADR approved..Good enough for me.Pretty sure if they were that bad they would have been banned by now....or we would have heard about the deaths.

Ok
Let me point this out

The ones with the rubber insert... not recommended for track use cause the ends pull out

Their new ones with what looks like a steel or aluminium anodised insert... I haven't handled one physically... they say they are OK for track use

Just cause everyones doing it doesn't make it right
Just cause its a piece of braided hose doesn't make it the right thing for the job
But hey... its your car... do as you please

An ADR standard means nothing on a track... we all know that

Ring John Margharetti at BQ Melbourne if you want clarification... tell him I said so if you like
I'm just thinking of you mate...I'd hate to hear you lost it cause a brake hose pulled out at the track

Still comfortable...I am not doing 300 laps at a time..or getting 140C on the brakes....reckon it might take a tad bit of heat to melt them...if that is the case....still never heard of it and I have been around the block once or twice...in fact..never heard of a bike braided line failing...or any other for that matter.
R

Just an after thought...dont the standard brake lines have the exactly same style of crimp and rubber lining external hose style?

A standard brake hose is rubber and uses exactly the same end fittings without the rubber bolster insert in the end
Its got a stronger hold cause its not 2 pieces and doesn't soften like the insert... yet rubber hoses can fail in high temps too of course
Goodridge hoses have a barb on the shank to "grip" the teflon section of the hose... Then the sleeve is metal crimped onto that and there is no way it can move
I have never seen a Goodridge hose pull out... they can break at the crimp like any hose under whip situation ... but never pull out

And you obviously don't know much about this particular brand of hoses and the way they are made
Bike hoses don't get very hot at all
But thats cool... if your not getting them hot you won't have an issue
But I've seen them pull out of at least 4 saloon cars after 3 laps and less on tuning days
Heres a thread from another forum regarding a failure

Cooling system finished, put the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder bracket in...cant get the SC until I fit the crossmember to lift the engine.Fitted the dipstick...that took an hour!..bastard!!
Brake lines are being fixed Monday..can bleed the system then..will do the mechanical gauges today but wont hook up the oil pressure one until I fire the engine..I run a temp gauge straight off the oil pump first to make sure we have pressure. Pouring rain here so may as well stay in the shed and do more.

That's the second pic I've seen today of a Commodore radiator in a Torana, they seem to fit really well, how come this isn't more common? Is it harder than it looks?
