Rory I don't know if you've already been told but HDT No 1 is in the current Race magazine page 14 in the Speed on Tweed article.

OK...so I am reknowned for going over board..."light" engine build went to a serious track engine...by mistake I might add!...well not really.
Forged pistons and s/steel rings.
Reground crank.
9.5 : 1 compression.
New s/steel valves 1.94/1.60.
Heads ported.
Decked and shaved.
Pacemaker extractors.
New guides, LS1 valve springs, anti-pump lifters, chrome moly push rods.
New A9L rods...the old ones had gauled when they pressed the old pistons in.
New Crane cam and bearings.CH286HH
New race ACL bearings.
New JP STD oil pump.
New water pump.
Powerbond Race Harmonic balancer.
Mini VS Commodore starter.
Yella Terra explosion proof Flywheel.
Brock Inlet manifold.
Holley DP 750 HP carb.

Moroso estimated 380/400HP..good torque....mid range grunt engine for sprints, hillclimbs, circuit, revs to 6200rpm to be nice to it.
Current interested buyer..I have lost your mobile number and this will add to initial price ...no dramas with having to totally commit...others are waiting in wings.
Engine and new ceramic clutch unit will be fitted to engine shortly as a unit then into car..then basically just need to hook everything up and fire it up...............

I am getting excited...and that's dangerous...like A9X said...I should keep it...but you can only drive so many cars at one time. BooHoo!
I like this one as the specs are more attuned to the cars of the day...being a 308 with period heads etc...
Might get J Harvey to drive it first...that would be nice!

do you still need muscles in your poo to shift a toploader with Hurst shifter?

Not if you set them up right on the bench.

They don't work very well on the bench though rory
Too hard working the clutch
Still a pig to drive when in a car though
OK if your an old man who shifts slow though

In standard form the top loader may take a bit of muscle to get it to shift, but when setup right can be just like shifting gears in a 1 litre japper very easy and quick

I had a Top loader fitted with a hurst indy shifter in my manual SLR and it shifted very easily?? the shift pattern was very close together though so you had to be careful not to accidently throw it into 1st when going for 4th flat knacker but this was the only problem i ever had with it..good box i rekon. :joystick:

OK...it looks better than I thought, all balanced up as well to perfection....basically a new engine complete...rods, pistons rings cam followers lifters valves springs .....everything...so much for a cheap hone and throw it together!

They never are just a freshen up! One thing always leads to another and presto full ground up rebuild. At least you did it fast, some of us are still going.

I can't believe you guys are whining about top loaders with Hurst Indy shifters!!! What the??

My old SLR5000 had the above mentioned set up and was by far the best gearbox and shifter package I've ever had. I've even had a reco quick shifted turbo supra 5 speed in my old HZ and I still liked the top loader and Indy stick better.

If you don't like them, you've made a dogs dinner of setting it up, or you can't drive a manual.

That's my whinge over. Keep up the good work : )

Hmmm...clutch might not be here in time..plate has to come from WA..no worry...will fit the engine to the subframe...bellhousing to the box..starter motor, extractors to the engine...and get it ready to drop back in..do all the hard bits so its just a bolt up then back in...nothing EVER goes to plan...ordered the clutch a week ago. Will give the engine another coat of holden Red then stick up some pics of it and the old parts.
