This is my first time here for a chat and its really just out of curiosity.Does anyone have colour photos and information on the destiny of a white LC GTR that was tarted up for the Sydney Motor show in 1971?Wire wheels, whitewall tyres, white dash, white instument faces, floor covered in sheepskin, white vinyl seats, and the roof coated in SILVER OROTON FABRIC!!!Kinda like a glomesh handbag I think.Theres a couple of black and white shots of it in an old Australian Hotrod magazine I have.A real life factory pimpmobile.Could make for an interesting discussion.
Yep...It ended up in Oxford St after a fling at Green Park near St Vincents hospital...Something about no one really understood or loved him. Last I heard was from a cop mate that worked the hookers in the Cross out of Philip Street..He said he saw it lying in an alley way drinking from a flagon..makeup all over the place singing "I Will Survive" at the top of it's voice...Barry said the acoustics in the alley were FANTASTIC too!

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a GTR, as at the time I was working for a Holden Dealer and had just bought a GTR myself.
My recollections however was that it was a 4 cylinder. But I wouldn't put money on it.
Styled by Fashion Guru of the time Trent Nathan. Pretty sure it even had white tyres too.
Don't have a pic though Photos used to cost a fair bit in those days, so we tended not to waste them.

Why are you so interested? Do you think you have found it? Or would you like to track it down?
Are there any more pics in the mag?

I bought about a hundred hot rod mags out of the 60s and early seventys at a swap meet a while ago,and this mondo bizarro Torana sticks in my mind.
Its curious that there are so many Torana nuts here but nobody has photos of it or knows anything about it.
The level of work, while its fairly tasteless, was no doubt done to a very high standard, and would have cost a bomb.
Its always interesting (to me anyway) to see what people did to cars in the past, and to find out what became of them.
I'd love to see some detailed colour pics of this car.Somebody must have some somewhere.
There is a bit of a story on it in the mag,no more photos though, and if I ever get around to buying a scanner,I'll put the whole thing up.

Does it say anything about who owned the car or who put on the show?
Its quite possible it went into someone's collection never to be seen again, or got re-tarted up for another show??
But you'd think if they've gone to all that effort they might use it a few times.

Maybe Trent Nathan kept it? Surely they couldn't give it away?

Trent Nathan was Gay.
Everyone is too scared to own up to knowing the car, 'cos it was gay.
I'd suggest dropping Matty a line in his thread,
That's gay.

There is a story in one somewhere about a guy in Canberra? I think sticking 308s into new or near new ones.
The catch when you are looking for an article in amongst so many magazines is that you get distracted often and forget what you are looking for.
There is a thread here somewhere about a guy looking for an FJ in south Aust called "The Wanderer"
Everytime I start looking I lose my way.lol
I'll try to do better
