after watching the news last night, they said they already had tonnes of stuff and needed cash more then anything...

what seemed like a good idea to me and the truckies and others has now become a bit of a let down, they dont really need another whole truck load ontop of what has already been pledged and we dont want to take things down that wont be wanted/needed and will get in the way, so back to cash donations I suppose.

I really thought we could have done something bigger to help then just some cash donations, but ohh well, anything we can do is good.

Don't be put off. Warrnambol just did a similar thing, next to no publicity but word got around fast and the one truck that was going up ended up being 4 trucks and if there had been more they would've been full too.

There are a few things I've heard that are still needed - Mobile phones, boots and abc radio was cryin out for can openers - seems they had plenty of canned food and no way to get into it. We sent up 3 mobile phones that were working but we get a new one with each contract so they go in a box under the bed. Maybe you could try a 'mobile muster' and boots etc (most ppl have a spare pair of work boots somewhere & an old mobile). Just a thought.

My old man has a property near Taggerty. The house was was saved by the CFA.
Unfortunately the shed burnt to the ground, including his original LJ XU1.
The main thing is, at least no-one was hurt
We were much luckier than a lot of other poor buggers out there

Just watching the arvo news on 9 & they said they've charged some bastard
with lighting fires that claimed 12 lives & looking to upgrade that to 21.
Didnt see the whole report & probably repeating Kaz,s link as I cant see it
but there was a mob outside the station as they left with him in the back
banging & shouting threats to to prick. Apparetly he's emotionally distressed!!!
& is being taken elsewhere for mental assessment.
Bullshit.
Hope they dont let him receive any less than he deserves because of his so-called
mental state.
Bring back capitol punishment, I say.

When i watching the news footage,i saw the remains of a lc xu-1 in a shed burnt out,i hope it wasn't genuine,so sad.

Saw a clip of what I was sure was a Torana nose sticking out of a shed burnt a couple of nights ago so prob the same clip. Possibly Timbo hatch's uncles LJ he mentioned maybe???

Also keep seeing a pic of three burnt out cars on a road being used a lot the one on the far left looks to be possibly (darn hard to tell what they were after going through that inferno) an EH (I acctually thought HR hubby thinks looks more like EH)

torana_umunga74 so glad your mate is OK makes you wonder how many did take the risk to try to go back after cars and also for pets

Our household has made a donation and done the shop at coles today with their profits donated to the appeal for the day but it seems hardly enough.

Condolences to anyone who has been caught up in the whole incredibly sad situation in any way.

Unbelieveable i cant believe not one of his collection was insured a really sad story.
The main thing is he has got his health and if you haven't got your health you haven't got anything.
This is my first reply on this topic so i would like to send my condolences to all affected from this horrible fire and i too have been making donations nearly everywhere we go but still feel helpless .
It is great to see how Australians are rallying together to help those who have lost everything keep up the good work.

Took this photo last weekend, the fire in the background happened on black saturday. It was about 10-15 kms from the fire front, started from flying embers, which passed right over my house to get to here.....
