But there is the clincher for me. It's not because I earned too much last financial year... it's because I didn't earn enough!
I didn't work the full year, only about two months and earned a poultry $5,600 gross. Yes, I did pay tax while working (PAYE) but because I was in the tax free threshlod as a low income earner, I received a full refund of the tax I paid (about $1,000 from memory).
I believe the Rudd government has got this all wrong. If I had earned $80,000 for the year, I'd still receive the tax bonus of $900 but because I'm a low income earner, I receive nothing!
As I'm a single guy with no children on a moderate income, I'm not in a financial position to buy a house so I haven't receive any benefit from interest rate cuts. Nor have I received any of the Rudd government Stimulus handouts.
While I was unemployed, I didn't receive any unemployment benefits (my own choice) but rather used my own personal savings to support myself (welfare is for the truly needy).
While I don't need the $900 I donated $900 to the Vic Bushfire Appeal earlier in the year, thanks to a suggestion from someone on this forum. I was hoping that I would be able to reimburse myself with the tax bonus but now that's not going to happen.
Thanks Ruddy!

If someone walked up to you on the street and handed you $950 and said "this is for you, but I want you to spend it; that's all I ask". I don't think you would hesitate to do good by them. I'm sick of hearing people say that they aren't even gonna put it into the economy because they don't agree with it.
Sounds like some good uses on here.
I've gotta pay car insurance I think... I don't think there will be any change
