Sorry Mick, I don't understand the question. What are you reffering to?

probably

I wound out one of my vans to 155 KPH. Then the clutch started slipping. Speedo stayed where it was and the tacho kept going!

That was back in the mid 80's in my 202 powered HJ van. Haven't attempted to wind out either of my work vans. Yet...

I know it's not a Torana but I was in my mates BMW 5 Series M3 with a V8 and we had it up to the governed top speed of 250 kmh & it felt like we were doing 100 kmh. Superb ride & handling.

When you spend $230K on a European car, you would expect it to be stable at autobahn speeds.

I've done 91km/h down the Mt Dandenong Tourist Road on my bike... that was pretty extreme until we got caught up behind the cars! hahahaha

I did 93 down Blacktop Hill in Adelaide back in 1993 on a pushbike. I used to hit 72 down the grove way every day on my way to work on the pushy

Back in 1988 I hit 125mph in my 8/73 Mustard LJ GTR on the Palmer to Mannum straight, that was one of the nicest cars I have ever owned! :cry:

I did 170 in a 180B on the Hume between Campbelltown and Liverpool. Engine was struggling a bit.

Wouldn't do that in the Torana, its amazing how much attention a red SL/R can attract form the cops.

I know of somebody who got booked doing 92 in a 60 zone on a pushy back in the 80's. I wound one of my bikes out to 85 downhill once. Trying to stop was the interesting part.

Ive gone like 80km/h on my thumpster... but thats quietly speaking

try a over the bars on the rev limiter in 4th on my WR450, about 120 to 130kmh in the bush. Wasn't good, but the bike was fine.

I have been clocked doing 167kph on the brakes, on the Hume hwy. The only cop i missed in the bushes that day. I just pulled over, and stood there while he got his car out the bush. He said, how fast were you going i heard you coming. And i relayed, don't know. I got a good cop, and it only cost me $125. I was going between 220-230.

Just curious as to what gearbox was in the car that had the photo of the dash. To do over 200 km/h at only 4500 rpm, I'd say you'd need a box with overdrive?

::Torana 101st Airborne Division Records::

All Fours: About ~10m maybe more, from takeoff to rear wheel landing, was coming down a hill just the bottom I punched it to overtakeon the long uphill directly after the downhill.
Unfortunately the uphill went something like this:

_/
/

Didn't mean to get airborne at all, but ended up clearing the flatter section entirely, came down with an earth shattering bang, showered sparks all over the place that apparently looked like the car became one massive comet/fireball.
Wasn't happy at the time with the whole thing, claim to airborne fame only after everything checked out not broken :)

Very Stiff suspension leads to far easier attempted space travel over soft suspension.

::Top Speed::
No idea; LH - T350, mild 308, 3.08 ratio diff, 13" rims.
Maybe 230?

So Torana Amore, you were pushing over 200 on a cold engine, or the guage is broken, or someone had the rear's up on blocks? ;)

Water temp? thought that was his auxillary speedo. Then again, it does only go up to 280. Maybe that's MPH?

Have cracked 160km whilst overtaking in the LC, and that is enough for me at the moment. Cracked 90km going down into Victor Harbour on the racer then the speedo blanked out, luckily no wind or I would have been in big doo doo's.

Assuming the photo is genuine, it does make one wonder..........driving at that speed one hand on the wheel and both eyes on the camera..........
