Not a truer word was said... I've taken my UC to 185km/h with the old 202 in it!! Seeing as i had a mate in the car, i thought i'd slow down... Its amazing how fast the old girls can go! That would have been closer to 4200rpm then... I think thats the reason i lost an exhaust valve in the old motor!!

With the current 179HP ive only seen 165km/h, that was overtaking a semi! I'd be happy to see what it's capable of, but only on the track!

Iin the old days i would regularly wind out my xu1 to over 135mph 3.08 or 2.78
I all so had a LH SLR 327 4 speed 9inc 2.78 gears, it could do 195k in 3 gear
And wel over 240kph in top gear no probs the engine had 400hp on the noise. at fly wheel

I did 227kms/hr in my EB once. It felt good on the road considering it had stock springs and superlow suspension.

It got there fairly fast but it started doing strange things at that speed so I slowed down. I dont think the ford auto like accelerating like that in its overdrive gear.

I did 192kms/hr in my AU over the 400 metres. I never tested that on the street but it should have gone far quicker than the EB due to its extra 100rwkw.

My LJ i have taken to about 100kms/hr. :P When its finished Im a bit worried its not going to like high speeds. I hope its alright. I hope to run about 135ish mph over the quarter with it when its finished.

Coming back from a car show the other weekend I blew the cobwebs out of mine, she went off the clock with no real hassles. The needle went down to the km/h sign. (The speedo ends at 180)

My old torana had a frightening top end at one stage that I never had the nuts to discover. It had a fairly hot 383 sbc in it. It also had a ford 9". Anyway at one stage I had a 2.5 ratio head in it (out of a galaxy i think). Well while doing 125 km/h it was only pulling 2150 revs and the engine revved quite happily to the limiter of 6500. I wonder what that tope end would have worked out to be?????

well my stock 202 uc drops power at about 4000 rpm but with a slight downhill managed to get it out to about 160 with a vk 5 speed. Still felt pretty smooth at that speed.

In standard trim a GTR (LJ) wouldn't go much past 100mph, tried it several times when mine was near new on a long straight country road. (Don't bother - the statute of limitations has long expired  )

I wound out one of my vans to 155 KPH. Then the clutch started slipping. Speedo stayed where it was and the tacho kept going!

5th gear (celica), 3.55 diff, 205/60/13, did close to 6000rpm I think, didn't want to look to long at the tacho, lol. Although car felt pretty damn stable at that speed.

Eagle, great stuff mate, loving that!!! hahahaha

From a standing start down the 1/4 mile (400ish metres), my LX crosses the line doing 185kmh (115mph) in 11.7 seconds. That's somewhere close to 6000rpm in top, with 3.7's in the rear. Could go to 200kmh quite easily. I can only imagine what a diff gear change would produce!!! Like Kudu mentioned, chuck in some 2.5's, and HOLD ON!!!!! lol.

I've had the speedo wound off the clock on the front straight of Sandown with my old 3.5's in the rear, that felt quick, but my speedo isn't accurate so no idea what the actual speed was then.

Great fun though ain't it!!! I think the salt-flat racers have the edge over us somehow.....

:)

last week coming back from geelong ,had ultra of the clock in third and still pulling like a freight train(no shit)
scared the shit out my brother (screaming slow down)
sat on the road like a go cart,no deviation ,no wondering ,very comfortable,
mind you i wont do it again in a hurry, radars are on every bridge to and from geelong :spoton: :spoton:

I BELIVE IT!!!! Although i didnt scream ( Well... i dont *THINK* i did did i !?) youcouldnt wipe the grin off my face all night! That A9X is an absolute WEAPON. if only i had the money i would have taken it home with me ;) Thanks for the ride Glenn!

My old torana... i literally had 2 feet on the accelerator and it maxed out at about 175Kph.... THats a guess as i was past the 160Kph marking but thats ALL it had!!

The Munro has done a best of off the clock 5000RPM in top gear with 3.25:1 diff.... I estimate around 230Kph there abouts.... All i can say is it felt slow... the car felt glued to the road ( which REALLY surpised me) and i'm glad i got off it when i did....

Cheers!

Back when I was stupid and took my daily driver out on high performance drive days, I had my VX SS commodore up to the limit, 220kph on the front straight of P.Island, with my driving instructor beside me saying push it harder, push it harder... My foot was flat to the boards trying hard, but I couldn't push it to go any faster, I had to back off for turn 1!!!! (plus also the speedo only goes up to 220kph)
In my Porsche 944, I got up to 200kph, not bad for a 4 cylinder..
I'm yet to get the tory out on the track or on the road...

Many years ago when I had my wild 202 in the gtr,on the way to the Entrance at 2am in the morning I wound the car out to 7000rpm,4th gear with 13in sprintmasters & 3.90 banjo. The sound of the webbers was just awesome & I couldn't believe how quick it got there but I just couldn't get over how it sounded.Maybe I should put that tripple webbered six back in.
