yeah similair to that battery Harve, i have seen your setup which looks well held down. I just wish we had enough height in our hatch area as you guys have in the sedans.

I bought it for $140 , its pretty expensive for a battery tray but its probably worth it considering the amount of work in it. Its the only one that fits where i want to put it , hopefully ill get around to installing it properly this weekend . It was just sitting there in the pic.

Just a few things left to go , saddle the battery cable etc, but pretty much done. Heres the end result of a little bit of patience and effort

It is a nice neat and simple setup. I think it would be worth fitting a cover over the battery clamp to reduce that possibility of an accidental short.

You should be able to get something like this at your local REPCO.

Yeah i was thinking of looking for something like that buthavent come acrosss anything yet, I was thinking while putting it together and mounting the top plate on the batt setup that it was a bit to close but there is plenty room to install the plate without any issues.

Just have to be a little careful when doing up the clamps and i do the negative last anyway and like you have mentioned something dropping in it. Even one of those soft red boots on newer cars may be the go.

The Matson website was down when I first posted regarding the clamp covers, it is now back online. I think I bought MA800C2 from either SupaCheap, AutoOne or REPCO.

I still have to see you about cable when i pull my finger out and get started in rewiring the car, i like punishing myself sometimes

hi all like the pics, just wondering is there any guidlines to follow with putting a battery in the boot for nsw reg my lj already has one in the boot just a plastic battery box bolted down beside the back left wheel arch and i have a bathurst tank aswell so do i need to vent the battery box to the outside of the car or what ? the car is currently unregisterd will a battery in the boot pass a blue slip ?

from what i understand it should be sealed box and vented only to the outside, but i thought in NSW the use of a dry cell or optima battery wasnt an issue, im sure someone will correct me if im wrong.

I think that's how it is in QLD.
I run a maint. free calcium acid battery that is sealed with vent ports in the covers. I just run a small vent tube from these ports to the outside of the car (in the lower inner rear quater, behind the back wheel).

yea that sounds like a good idea with the maint free battery dont like the idea of the other batterys vents in the lids it mite splash or something, like the box that is in it there is corosion on the bottom of the box lucky it plastic il get a new box an carpet it then run a hose down to the bottom of the wheel arch like you said
cheers for the help fellas
