a slick would be better than eagers in the rain

The Nexen tyres like already fitted are a pretty good tyre.

yeah that is a sweeeeeeet truck!
i'm guessing its been vinyl wrapped not airbrushed. is that the case?
very nice tho.

nope, air brushed all the way mate!

His old truck was a cab over freightliner, airbrushed top to toe with spiderman web and a big mural on the rear of spiderman, cost him a fortune!

This new truck was at meguirs motor ex at homebush last year.

His trailer alone is worth twice my house :(

Got another wheel polished, tried posting on my phone from the airport last night (via their free wifi) but turns out it didnt like me posting here and kept booting me off their server! left home at 7.45 to go to newy airport, got there at about 8.50 and ended up leaving there just after 10.30 to come home, delayed flights arent much fun!

anyway,

I can still get sumitomo rubber in 205 size in 13s.....they arent cheap, but I can get them (last time I checked, its what I run on the LJ atm)

I found nangkangs are a decent tyre for the price, bit of road noise (dependant on the batch it seems)

the Lexanis on the VT are a fair bit noisier though, but at $105 for a 235/45 r17 Im not complaining! They feel alright in the wet too.

Should get the last wheel done tonight, then its bolt up time!

+1

I can't believe you have the patience to polish them first, I'd have them straight on the car... THEN polish them.
But I'd have to try them first....

well last night was interesting to say the least.....

My lock nut key has miraculously disappeared so getting the wheels off was fun.

One of the tyres has a hole in it (John told me it had a self tapper in it and may need repairing, so I was ready for that) so I thought Id throw one side on.....

Wait, wheres my jack handle! thats right, I left it at my parents house as I needed to redril and bolt it together...
conquered that, then realised I had no lock nut key, no worries, might try and belt them off like I had to last time...

a nice little nick in the face of my old jellybeans later (so f*cking pissed off), I had one nut off.

Eventually got the back wheel off, started on the front, slipped, another small mark, so gave up on them.

Snapped the 3/8 to 1/4 drive socket adapter (7/16 socket fits the lock nut centre but only the 1/4 drive one!)

anyway, managed to get this far, I need 4 new tyres from the looks of this-

but this was the end product (new tyres will make it look alot nicer, going to have to roll my gaurds more and drop it an inch or two now I think)

Im thinking that Nangkangs will have to do for a while, as always, Im a poor ass. hahaha.

I think I might have to go to a lower profile tyre too as the 205/45s that are on it at the moment are a fairly larger rolling diametre then the 13s (and my speedo was already waaaay out)

money money money hey!

dammit.

Wait, the white stag bottles are talled then normal!

I'll grab a carlton when I get home and have a look.

Then I'll grab the ruler and we can compare coc...........I mean tyre sizes...... :P

I just need to find me a decent 7/16 socket to turn down to fit the lock nut, then I'll have all 4 on.

Figure I might need to kill the rest of those rear tyres..... hmmmmm

Alright, got all 4 wheels on the car now got the puncture wormed at a mates tyre shop, so thats all better.

But I have some decently sized issues.

Before I get to that-

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Now onto the problems...

Front wheels are going to be too wide. I cant even go round a round-a-bout at over 5km/h without it scrubbing like crazy, its to the point that in the short drive from my house to my parents, that I thought it would buckle my front gaurd.

Im looking into ordering new outer sections to reduce the front to 16x6 and will slap some 195 tyres on them. The biggest problem is the increased diameter and the extra dish.

So If I can reduce the dish, then I should get away with it (might look at stepping down to a 40 series tyre too)

Next drama is on the rear.
Scrubs badly over bumps and stuff, Its an easy fix (getting my gaurds rolled) but Im just wary of the paint cracking as when I rolled to rear section the paintwork on the lip took a beating. Thinking of getting a mobile gaurd roller bloke out to do it instead of hammer+wrapped dolly or anything.

Will need lowering another inch or two after that, as it sits waaaay too high now.

Feels ok on the road, alot firmer then before.

Should look alot better once I get it all sorted, old wheels will be going back on until I get it stripped down again.
