what about using the standard torana tank with a dummy droptank with top cut out bolted to rails around it , would still have the fat look !!!

My drop tank initially failed over the pits (WA) only because it did not have a manufacturers number on it, had it tested by a company and they tagged and numbered the tank as one of there own and then i just had to pay for the modification permit at the pits the next time and it is now legal. They did not test the angle, only checked for the number. I'd suggest using a stock tank for your initial pit inspection then install your new tank and pay for the inspection again to certify the drop tank only. This was done a few years ago and might have changed since.

just bit of rumour info for you guys. little birdie told me during the week transport department are looking at changing laws in regards to aftermarket fuel tanks, these include sizes and mounting of the tank, extra bracing may be required due to extra weight. heard it mainly comes about due to long range tanks in 4wdrives. as i said only rumour, whether it effects us not sure.

Why don't you get pumps you can sink in the tank???
Then you can utilise that whole space for fuel and make up a bracket to attach to an inspection plate to mount and remove them..........

as the title suggests.i had my engineer inspection 2day.

everything is fine with the car exept the drop tank

the engineer has no problem, with the mounting,or the quality of the tank.

he does not like the depature angle.everything below the tube shouldnt be there

If you were to weld two thick steel belts/straps that help hold the tank on, would they they be considered permanent bodywork????

Just a thought

and I wonder if we could get a 120 litre drop tank for the LC,

be good for trips across Australia, so we can avoid the Nullarbor Fuel Expense.

Don't think it would help too much Dave, just means you wouldn't have to walk as far with the jerry can.
