My Mrs just saw this pic and said: "Holy shit! What carpet have they got in that?"
If it were me, I would fabricate a new dash to replace the original screw in unit. That way, no new holes and easily returned to original.

You can also place them under the centre air vents as has been shown in the previous photo's or in the centre console if you have one.

If you're trying to be discreet, you can slip a couple of gauges under the dash near the bonnet release catch. Looks neat and doesn't interfere with the original equipment.
I mentioned this (i have 2 guages here) but apparently you cannot see them lol.

It was a tight fit but I managed to strategically place the 2 as shown which effectively
leaves me room enough to fit another one in the future in place of the cigarette lighter.
I shifted the Demister/Elec antenna switch above the ash tray.
There was a need to removed some metalwork behind where the gauges are mounted.
I also mounted the VDO tachco off the column. Unfortunatey I couldnt get a black dial one these
to match the rest.

Sorry about that. Obviously your gauges are very well concealed, either that or I need to get my eyes checked (probably the later)
Cheers Mick.

I know what you mean though, you do have to look down to check them, my car is a street car so i have no
need to have them right where i can see them, only to look at now and then to check. Ill be putting a tacho in,
but obviously not in that location.

As others have said, you can put em pretty much anywhere, but at high speeds on a track you really need to watch where you're going so it's probably best to just make sure you have a few warning lights in a good spot and don't worry so much about the gauges.
If you have a few in a row, a good tip is to mount them at angles so that when everything is in it's normal range, they all point to 12 o'clock. That way if something is out of normal range it should easily stand out.

about the 9 oclock position of the steering wheel on the dash(about where the cigerette lighter would normally be) and the Water Temp and Oil pressure guages.
This set up is not street legal due to guges mounted to dash pad.
When I am seated (low in a race seat) all the guages are easily readible at race pace...and yes I check them about 3 times a lap.
The standard guages have been removed and blanked off with carboard (painted black)....light cheap and easy.
All the switches are on a panel beside me...I cant reach the dash when straped in.

(That's a trans temp gauge on the right hand side of the lighter).
