Well after a big day on the tools its all in and running. Just a few things left before i can go for a test drive. Had to trim the bellhousing to fit the extractors and use some washers on the a swaybar to get a bit of clearance. It was so much easier pulling the front end to get it all in.

Thanks guys took it for a spin round the block today and runs well other than some tappet noise. Still need to fit the front bar and get the exhaust done.

It sadly wont be ready for the maroonday dam run on sunday but im sure there will be ither events over summer. I also still havnt wired up the wipers and might just take it somewhere to get done.

And once again a big thanks to everyone who helped in one way or another.

Daz (ls1taxi)- for the advice and help transporting the car

Mick (mick74lh) for the gearbox

Tom (neglectedtorana) for the clutch

And again everyone else the car wouldnt be where it is now without your help and support.

Also a little skid pic haha didnt know it was an lsd centre...

Well im going to put this on the back burner again as its frustrating me a lot took it to the exhaust shop and got it on the hoist and the extractors are fouling on the crossmember and steering shaft because an engine mount rubber collapsed. Also spotted a decent rear main leak. So it will all have to come out again. Its so frustrating as i just want to enjoy it.

Good on you for sticking with it,please don't just park it up outside and let it sit, most of us know what life can throw at us at times, and at times it might seem a little daunting, don't give up after getting this far. :)

Either should fit. You can slot the mounts to move the engine (and pipes) away from the steering.

I wouldn't fuss about a pipe on the crossmember. Plenty of cars about with that problem!

Good call Rexy. If you've got a bit of a cam it'll give the car more of a rock n roll at idle too. Nothing wrong with that

Well ill be ordering new engine mounts tomorrow.

Its got to the point where my dad wants to cut up my gold one for repairs on the LH but its such a clean shell im unsure of i should reshell the red car into it. Its a lot straighter and has very minimal rust. Only things it would need are new inner front guards and a repair to the rear beaver.

When i started the car years ago i sprayed the black tar stuff on the floorpans and rear parcel shelf. It would have to be removed and painted properly. Whats the best way to remove it?

Here are some pics, any opinions?

My opinion, stick with the devil you know.
You haven't got the time or coin to work on your current UC, I can't see this making the situation any better.

Sorry if that sounded harsh. Wasn't meant to be

Time and money arnt too much of an ossue anymore, its more motivation.

I have to make a list and stick to it haha.

Ill try here.

1. Replace engine mouts with torana ones.
2. Decide on disc or drum rear brakes and get them working again.
3. Replace fuel and return lines with the ones from the gold car.
4. Replace speedo cable.
5. Get the wiring finished so the tacho and other gauges work.
6. Get exhaust done.
7. Figure out how to cover the shifter hole and have it look good.
8. Fit my other front springs back up.
9. Get heater hooked up
10. Buy an air cleaner.

Im sure theres more but this will do for now.
Still dont really want to cut up the gold car.

Ahhrrrrr, motivation, now that comes and goes. Just never lose site of the end goal!

Point 3 from above, fuel and return lines. What return line? Isn't it just one fuel line unless it's fuel injected?

Had a factory return line as far as i know when i got it. Changed from the strommie to a weber on the 6 and crimped it off at the chassis rail.

You're probably talking about the vapour line that runs from the fuel tank vent bowl to the charcoal canister?

Interesting, so does the UC have the charcoal canister down the back of the car somewhere?
