Hi Guys.

ADR27A never applied to the LJ series, in came in for July '76 onwards, LX & HX.

ADR27 came in for LJ & HQ in Sept '73, but this is really nothing more than PCV & idle mixture. Modified engines usually have no trouble unless they insanely rich at idle.

They will both be great fun. While the rb30 would be more of a novelty engine than the v8 I would say it will be a more expensive exercise. CGMFLY is a sweet ride, but you can't tell me that the bottom end alone on that motor is worth any less than 10 grand.

prob is less than 10k for the bottom end as there usually a
factory rb30 block
factory rb30 crank
4340 rods
forged pistons
balancer/ oilpump
studs and bolts
and machining and balancing.

all the money is tied up in the head/valvetrain/ manifolds/injectors and computer etc.

Jap-xu1 would you agree with this? since youve just built your new engine or am i way off?

cheers

cgmfly's bottom end is stock. would have cost him about 2k tops for the rebuild.

my whole engine including management would owe me about 10k but i didnt pay for labour except the machining

I bought my Lc 2 door of Kris (cgmfly) and have seen the car in the flesh it really is a nice peice of work considering that its paint was over 7 years old when i saw it last year kris had the engine out and was planning to respray it with the money he got from the car he sold me, which he was originally planning to convert into cgmfly mark 2 as the body was better but he couldn't be bothered going through enginering again...

hopefully one day my Lc will receive an rb30 it deserves. :spoton:

you can get a rb30 n/a series 2 motor for cheap as chips and do a basic rebuild on it and change a few things for turbo. if your going to do a v6 you may aswell do a 5ltr or rb30turbo. the v6's make bugger all power. a mates made 205kw with twin turbo set up. woo hoo (note sarcasm).

A stock 3.8 in a torry will see a good 14 sec 1/4mile, less than 10l/100km in town and closer to 8l/100km on highway (with right gearing).... A bit of N/A work and you'll get close to 200kW out of it, although they still have trouble breathing they still go in a lighter torry...

And not only are they everywhere, parts are easy to get!

A mate of mine has just done an RB30ET conversion in his LX hatch... Dean his name is (ex gmh forum CAL-A-KID).

Although up himself and thinks he is gods gift, he's done a nice conversion... I could chat to him, or point you in the right direction if you'd like!

He rebuilt the motor with some very hardcore internals. But again, he's up himself and would probably not give any info..
