its still going to sound gay,ok if you get a fat over the sound of a chainsaw i guess  ,at least i dont have to drive it.

not everyone wants to imitate trends of the 80's.
all you close minded guys should just go straight past these threads and post something positive in another thread instead of the ever so predictable garbage
you post in every thread regarding high tech conversions.

we all know your low tech, theres nothing wrong with that but far out, stop the nonsense posts

Easy does it fellas - each to their own! Jap-Xu1, these guys have more experience with the more 'old school' side of things than the peeps who have been bought up in a more technologically advanced youth (such as yourself and me)...

There's nothin wrong with a big block chev! I love it! There's nothin wrong with a rotary - different thinking! There's nothin wrong with a red 6cyl (i own one and proudly built and fitted it myself)!!

Lets all shake hands and leave the negativity for somewhere else!

Keith

I think its good to see people doing something different to the pack. Weather its something that the pack likes or not is another story, but who cares its your car. I just dont think the earler comment that rotories sound better that V8's would win, but hey I could be wrong :tease:

Rotaries don't all sound like buzzing chainsaws.

Disqualified you must have a lot of money to burn in these days of high priced fuel lol 20b how many rotors? single or twin turbos? Either way itll be pretty sick once it gets finished or started in this case :spoton:

Maybe you should ask Tiny about his fuel consumption ( NOT fuel economy ) in his Monaro.

do it, it will be different. I think the only thing that would piss me off is if you cut up a XU-1/SLR5000...ect to do it.
Just out of interest, where are you planning on getting a 20B from?

Turn to page 138 of the May 2006 edition of Street Machine. You should find the answer to that question near the bottom of the page.

Why not put the rotary in an LC/LJ.
At least it's a small car like the RX2 and it's a better suiting application.

Sorry, but a Rotary in an LH is just plain ridiculous.
LH curb weight is also heavier than 1150kg.

Whatever, but you're going to have one slouch of a torana that not to many will appreciate if you go this path.

Nathan - A rotary is German design by the one Felix Wankel.
It's physically speaking, a far superior design to piston driven engine as well.

It's not jap :P

I'm sorry you can't read. One of the prevous posts stated that an RX7 weighs in at 1350 KG. That makes the LH 200 KG lighter. Then there's the weight saving by putting in the rotary.

For all non SM readers this is whats on p.138

The Slowest Rotary is 7.87/167mph (13B/T RX7)
The Fastest Piston is 7.44/190.80mph (406ci Ford TF Cortina)(pro street blown class)

In comparison a 20B/T RX7 ran 7.26/196.33
and the fastest runs 6.96/199.17 mx6 20b/t. Obviously therell be other things other than the engine that determines the speed e.g the Ford was a "street car" by ANDRA standards and i think the MX 6 doesnt even have doors etc.

Who gives a shit about those figures though?
The worlds fastest drag car [or used to be] is a 5L 4cyl.
And I imagine if you made a worked 5L Rotary it would haul ass.

A rotary by design produces more power for the same displacement/size as a piston engine.

Anyway, the point is, anything can be made to go fast if you throw the money at it.
But an LH/LX with a rotary will still suck royal wang, an LC/LJ with a rotary, now that's pretty cool (as long as it's not a GTR/XU1)

An LH with a 202 is only 60 KG heavier than an LJ XU-1. 5% difference. And I'll have my UC weigh in at well under 1 tonne.

For the interest of all UC/LX/LH owners here, my UC with no weight modifications, 1/2 a tank of juice and me and a mate (about 140kg) in my car, it weighs in at 1113kg...
