hahaha Dom. I'm just too lazy to start any more threads. Plus they're not exactly toranas : )

The camaro is starting to look somewhat like a car.

Thanks benno. No this hasn't been pre done. It's all in real time. But like quagmire said, I get to spend a lot of time on it. As for my own cars, well, they just sit there patiently waiting : )
I've got 4 cars on the go at the moment for other people, so I don't get to do much to my own stuff, but the cars I'm being paid to work on are much better than my cars anyway so I don't mind : )
As for when this will be finished, I'd really like to say by christmas, but it might be a bit after.

So this isn't your own??

How much do you estimate this one will end up costing the owner?

Hi Stephen. I'm not sure how much it's cost but I could go through and add it up. When I took this job on I was charging $30 an hour, but then I bought the land and put the new shed up to take more jobs so now I'm $50 an hour. The local panel shops here are $88 an hour so I'm still a fair bit cheaper than the regular shops. Plus, they wouldn't have touched this car with a barge pole. It's all insurance work for most of the panel beaters around here.
I think that by the time the whole car is ready for paint it should still be cheaper than buying a dynacorn body.

Hi Jon. If it's what I think you're talking about it's the sway bar.

Aido, the bonnet was supplied by the owner as is. Bloody marvellous isn't it : )

i think theres a big difference between a panel shop and what your doing dirt bag. ive known a few mates because they dont have skills given cars like hardtop xb etc to panel shops and just bogged them up and painted them. it still cost a fortune. your one of a rare few that craft cars back to there former glory and not just hide problems. and yeh hurry up and finish it cos the tonner needs some luv........Posted Image

Thanks wblje, nice of you to say : )
Well this car is getting closer to being finished. There's still some work to do but all in all there's certainly a light a the end of the tunnel, and it's not a train : )

I haven't really been very thorough with this build on this site as the owner spends more time on www.usmuscle.com.au so I've been posting it there. Here's a quick look at it now though just because I can't sleep hahaha : )

All the body work is nearly done and the car has been primer filled and dry sanded. The only body work left is to line the bonnet and nose cone up properly, finish repairing the stone tray, smooth the inner front guards and put steel capping along the tops of the doors, like what a torana has.

Here's the camaros new neighbour that arrived yesterday. It's an HK GTS Monaro. I'll be doing a separate thread on this car so the owner can see the progress. I'm really looking forward to this build. HK monaros are my favourite aussie cars. I think I'm going to have to keep this one though bbwaaahahahahahahahaaaa.....

it sounds like the car resto industrie is going alright. must be some people around with money. they dont pay in bags of $20 notes do they.Posted Image
displaying your work like this on diff forums would be great device for showing your skills. im sitting here thinking how am i gunna takle this year so i dont go belly up. alot of industries are so quite right now but it looks like you have a bit of work to go on with. you also get to do what ive always wanted to do and thats work from my back yard.

Yes it is what you think it is.

No, it's never been in a magazine.

I'm very jealous of your big block manual hatch : )
