We had a good run with only one hic-up on the way home, lets just say "bloody Torana fuel gauges", but the LJ did roll 6 Kays down the hill at Ourimbah without Scotty & Dane'o having to do a " Doug Chivas". Great timing.
Heres some pics.

I have been to all holden day a couple of times and both was a pain to get into the place. I would also like it to be moved to a more friendlier venue. Eastern Creek sound good to me.
Surely someone knows the Richard Head that did the burn out. It is a worry for event organisers and participants that one fool can cause havoc.
Let me know when the possy is riding out to find this moron.
Looks like Huddo was realy prepared for the wet weather with his surf board! Who put it on the roof for Him?
And the score 3 little to 1 big from the HVTC well done little guys!
regards
Pete.

Well as the saying gos the word TORANA is TO FLY and I can say thats the first time I have been in a car that has almost pasted cars on the freeway with the engine not going.I think we can put it down to Huddos precise positioning of the surf board on the roof that made the aerodynamic affective.WELL DONE Huddo and thanks for not making me have to get out and push.A few HVTC Members made the trek south , It was a great day out with 798 Holdens on display.

Not to keep bringing up the bad, but surely the club running the day has the number plates and descriptions of all the entered cars, couldn't be too hard to track the tosser down and make him pay for the repair work.
They know exactly who he is Chris, but I'm amazed that he didn't get dragged from his car and killed.
I saw it happen from about 100m away and couldn't believe it. My Mum's automatic Datsun 120Y could chuck a burnout on loose gravel so I'm not sure what this guy was trying to prove??
Good to have a chat to Tiny, Simone and Wayne on what was a busy day.
Massive show but it took me about an hour to go the last 2km's, car doesn't get hot but a button clutch, big cam and three kids in the car don't make for fun times. One entrance point for registered/non registered and general public just made for one huge mess.
Apologies to Wayne who came up to me just as I pulled up. Yes Wayne, that was steam coming from my ears :-)
Won't see me at an AHD again unless they fix the entry issues.

Didnt even see your car, but we were trying to get around pretty quick to avoid the congestion that happens when finish times comes round.

Maybe you need to pull the tank out of the "X ewe one" and put that into the long distance tourer!!
Or get the missus to buy you a 5lt jerry can for xmas.. LOL!
I was a good day to see that many Holdens, and by my calculations, around 60 - 70 Toranas, on display.
It's interesting to see more and more UC's popping up at these things now as well!
Got a chance to catch up with some forums members and have a bit of a chat..
It was interesting to see how the AHD is run as we are always looking at things to improve Toranafest.
I was astounded that it took us from 7.15am (arriving) to 8.15am to be parked in the venue. There are some major issues there and having "spectator cars" come through the same gate as the entrants is one problem... Instead of processing two cars at a time, maybe they should be processing 4 or 5 at a time?
I beleive, as do most that I spoke to yesterday, that they have outgrown the venue and it does need to move. The venue is a problem if it rains and it is a problem if it is too dusty.
Eastern Creek is the obvious choice and speaking to those that went to the All Ford day, it worked well out there. All entrants were parked on the Track and foodies, etc were in the Pit area.. No problems with mud there! I also beleive that if they did move to a better venue, they would possibly see an even greater number of entrants as well.
What do others think?
As for the idiot that ripped up and damaged cars, he's lucky he didn't kill someone!! From what I heard, he nearly did!
I also heard that he had is keys taken, but obviously they were given back.. Why they didn't detain him, or at least his car, and call the coppers, is beyond me!

But, the wind resistance took its toll on the fuel economy, not used to the extra drag so we ran out of fuel (bloody torana fuel gauges) near the speed cameras just up the hill from the Orimbah roundabout, & rolled all the way to a rest stop right near a fuel station.( more ass than class )
Some nice pics taken there Dougs... of our journey.
And Pete, littlies win again!!!!!!!!!! oh!!!, & luckily I had Daneo with me to tie the surfboard on for me, or i could of be in a spot of trouble.Ha!!!!
Wasn't wet enough for the board to come off the roof racks but came bloody close...stir stir....maybe Eastern Creek would be a nice change , access in & out for a big turn out is a biggy & handles the wet times well.
Cheers Huddo...

Anyone else just get over seeing showroom state late model commodores with mag wheels?
Absolutely. And what is about these guys that means that have to have their subwoofers pounding away?
The answer is possibly two different areas - say pre '85 and post '85. I know which section I wouldn't be visiting!!
How amazing were the FB's from the Jackson collection. Some very rare and low milage stuff. A mate of mines just completed FC Ambulance was also a standout.
My daughters and step-son worked in the merchandise tent all day and had a great time. Sold heaps of Efijay posters!!

Rays opinion about the music thing is very similar to yours craig,
It should jut be banned, full stop, no questions. No one needs to sit and listen to distorted bass because they are trying too hard, not to mention the fact that one of the 3 I saw had a nice little plume of smoke pouring out from under his bonnet (he didnt seem too phased though)
Its just not necessary.
But yeah, there is definitely a limit to the amount of VN-VT commodores with wheels that I can take. I like commodores, dont get me wrong, sure, be a member of a club, go on cruises etc. But leave it in the carpark at the shows well thats my opinion anyway

That might sound harsh, but thats the only way you will get action and try to stamp it out in the future. This is one of the reasons I've lost interest in these shows, that combined with the people who think it's ok for them and their kids to touch every part of your car, and when you say something they get the shits, I've heard of people returning later to key someones car because they dared say something.
And people cant understand why the driver of the GT at the AMCM was kicked out, they are trying to eliminate that "dickhead" mentality.

When i returned i asked Simmo "I wonder how many fingerprints there will be!"... What shocked me was the LACK of finger prints!!
I had a LOT of people come up for a chat and 90% of them were very respectful... To say i was surprised was an understatement!
All in all i agree with the comments on the entry organisation and the show has definitely outgrown the venue.. let's hope they find somewhere better!
Not to make excuses, but i did hear that they wanted entrants to enter from the "eastern" gate with spectators through the 'western" gate, but the authorities (police??) said no due to that traffic management plan!!
The more of these "plans" i see (Safe work method Statements / management plans etc etc etc) the more stupidity there seems to be!!
It was really great to catch up with those that i did, It was good NOT to be rushing around organising something all the time! good to be able to stand and have a yarn!
Cheers!

Guy that works with my brother was telling him they swooped right on exit time for all the displayed cars.
Said he watched a yellow LJ (im assuming it was the bright yellow V8 one) get defected like crazy.
When we left there were a few hway patrol guys around, hiding in places waiting for someone to rip a skid out on to the main road, but did they really nab a whole lot of people for defects or is this bloke just FOS.

as for someone taking down plates....that did happen and they had someone from the comittee standing there taking plates of others that also thought it was a good idea to show how much power they have on gravel....

It's sad to think holden owners can be so thoughtless but it takes just a few to ruin the day for many.
I hope it gets sorted out quickly and well for all involved!
