The editor of the Aussie Muscle Enthusiast; Matt Ludgate has been dismissed by Express Media Group (the publisher) - NFD.
Matt made the announcement yesterday on the AME Facebook page;
https://www.facebook...165348896835689
Not sure what this means for the future of the publication - time will tell I guess.
IMO this is a sad day given Matt is a true believer - a car guy like the rest of us who has a passion for the cars and for the magazine, and so I wonder (if the magazine continues) if it will become but a shadow of its former self...
I know you troll here from time to time Matt - thanks for what you have created; you will be missed around the traps.
Cheers, TB

Agree with above. Matt is a good guy and a genuine car lover.

Sad.

Bugger. Matt was doing a great job getting AME out monthly. He had mastered the short story coupled with excellent shots of the cars. A good mix of orginal and modified cars and mix of all brands and models. You know you are doing a good job when the opposition copies you- Issue 4 of AME was full of pink cars and 18 months later Aust Muscle Car (AMC) does exactly the same thing. The magazine is not chock full of ads, unlike some others. Let's hope the magazine doesn't down hill like AMC with a change of driver. My bookcase certainly appreciated your efforts. Thanks Matt

AMC has certainly gone downhill since Mark Oastler left, he actually did his research before he would do a story and was careful about what he allowed to be printed. I'm sure we all remember the VK big banger issue.

+1 Seymour, Matt you have done an excellent job on the 17 issues I have and let's hope it doesn't go down hill from here as I always looked forward to the next issue every month.

Have to agree with you there. The article on the E49 in the current issue is absolute rubbish (written by Gary Bridger). Luke West should have done a better job editing that one. (And I have a real soft spot for Chugs, having owned an E38 until fairly recently).

Yep, I think it will only get worse too as the information and cars dry up they will start to get desperate to fill pages. AME is different, they can fill the pages with nice cars while AMC is supposed to be the real deal. Thats what happens when you lose someone who has the passion for the job. I just think Luke had some extremely big boots to fill, and I think whowever takes over from Matt will also have some big boots to fill. They will need someone passionate about the subject, not just an editor.

about mr west he looks to be a lot younger than us.i dont envy his position .he would not have been there for most of the era his publication represents and has to rely on the info provided to him be the info correct or incorrect.
i did not renew my subscription for amc .i got tired of the teaser car on the front cover getting you in only to open it and find very little else in there of interest where as the ame was the go.
and whats happening with rrc i hear its editor has been moved away from this??????????
lame.

Only bought the latest AMC for something to read on a long flight recently. Certainly not what it was.
