Yeah, I love the idea of a 2 door HK/T/G wagon. I've seen some with stock length doors and just welded the rear ones in to make a sedan delivery style, but I think the longer frameless doors and a single long side glass in the back would look insane!!!

Tim, I know you love the wagons, but they are for old dags...... :)
It's why toranas, comaros, mustangs, chargers and pretty much any cool musclecar didn't come in wagon form!
I'm going to start referring to you as James May. Haha! :)

hahaha I can live with that. Maybe you can just call me Mr May : )

As for muscle car wagons. How about mustangs, corvettes, firebirds and a 70 camaro sound?

Or even an ugly ass mid 80s camaro?

Here's a hand made 49-51 mercury wagon. Bloody beautiful.

Or a 56 Chrysler?

It's true, I am a wagon nut. I just think they look better than sedans in a lot of cases.

Here's a rough photoshop pic I did of the HT Goon. If I were to build this for real I wouldn't have door frames, but it was easier to photoshop with them in place still.

Posted Image

Then there's the HZ version. Again, it's just a rough photoshop job.

Posted Image

Another thing I like is 2 door cars with sedan profile, not fastback.

Here's a couple more photoshop butcher jobs I did.

See the crap I can come up with when I can't sleep!!!!! hahaha

Go the wagons!!!!!!

I'd love to build a torrie wagon. Anyone want to donate an LH/LX shell to the cause?

Go and talk to Ozbox in Toronto. He has a HJ van there chopped and converted to HQ coupe frameless doors. Looks like a windowless wagon. He'd part with it for the right $ I'm sure. I'm pretty sure it is a rare auto Sandman van as well.

This thread has strayed well away from Dirtbags dream car Monaro build! But if we are on the subject of wagons, the 1956 Chevy Nomad is the best looking factory built wagon ever produced, anywhere, anytime.

I agree Mitch, that EH is stunning. One of my favourite cars actually. So subtle.

My partners old man has a HK 327 GTS (I think thats what is anyway). It was all original until he sent the motor away to his friend to get rebuilt - never saw it again !!

As for the Shooting Brakes - I love em. All of them posted in this thread are awesome - even the Mustangs. But you are all forgetting the best one of all - BMW M Coupe (the Z3 style) - old school style and muscle with modern underpinnnings (mind you it still handles like a pig apparently).

There is an XC in Tassie that has been shortened radically into a 2 door and it looks bloody good too - saw it on an episode of Grunt Files. Think it had a 460 in it too from memory.

A 2 door LX Torana wagon based on the hatch (maybe better off using a UC) would be awesome - come on Tim pull your finger out . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I guess it depends on how badly rusted, dented and bent it is : )

OK, finally I got to spend a few hours yesterday on the monaro now that the camaro is finished.

I didn't do a lot, but I got a start on the paint removal fun!

First thing I did was move it to where it will get most of it's work done. It's so nice to be able to have work space finally.

Posted Image

Because quite a lot of this car is just primer, I didn't feel the need to use the 24 grit discs to strip it. I'll just use them to rip the bog out. To get the primer off I used 80 grit pads on a random sander.

I got the roof, tops of the rear quarters and half the boot done.

Posted Image

Posted Image

Now it just wouldn't be me if I didn't then coat it all in rust converter : )

It's not much, but it's a start : )

Hang-on, don't you have MOST of a 2 door wagon there already?

That little blue jigger? Hmmm?

hahaha No way! There's been SOOOO much work put in to make that ute there's no way I'm going to spoil it all to make a wagon. I'd rather start from scratch with an old sedan and some hatch doors : )

What about a removable top?

Wagon when needed and ute when it's not?
