I'm going to pull mine apart soon to clean it up and paint it. Have you got any tips that you learnt whilst doing this? Or is it fairly straight forward? :)

Yeah it's pretty straight forward mate, however I would have probably had the Control Arm Bushes pressed whilst in primer and then Painted after. Then I would have done the Assembly myself.

"You" are the one that is going to take the most care with it and touching up is a real pain.

So yeah other than that, ummm... If you can get access to a sand/bead blaster I highly recommend doing that, and also the Bench grinder with a wire wheel worked well for the clean up on the arms Etc.

Cheers

Rack boots came in, decided to use hose-clamps instead of cable ties. Still waiting on brakes

I bought 4 rims (with rear tyres) off a guy who was going to build a hq hence they are multi-fit. $1300. Dunno what they are worth new but I reackon that's gotta be cheap. I'll check the invoice from the brakes tonight, I got them to also send a 1" disc/disc master cylinder as well.

Looks Great!

What's the clearance like between the caliper and the wheel?

Are you using a wheel spacer?

What size and backspace is the rim?

Thanks mate
No spacer is needed and the Clarence is about 10mm. I think from memory the backspace on the rim is 3.5" but ill double check tonight.
Cheers.

Yeah 10mm between the top of the caliper and the edge of the rim is heaps of clearance. What about on the side of the caliper? Does it come close to the back of the 'spokes'? I have heard that some 15" wheels are extremely close or even hit on the body of the caliper.

With the convo's there is plenty, but I can see where you could run into problems with a set of Simmons or the likes, where the bolts/rivets come through to the back and protrude. The convo's obviously have rivets too, but they are quite flush at the back.

Cheers

Ok with footy season over, I spent some time ofer the last couple of weeks trying to get the engine bay finished in primer the way I want it. It's at the stage now where it just needs to be blocked back once more to eliminate the fine scratches from the 100 grit and hit once more in primer, and it's ready for some color.
