Surely straps can't be illegal because then the original tank set up on an LH/LX/UC would be illegal! And probably on other cars too. From whathe informed me straps are illegal in some states so all his tanks bolt to the chassis of the car.

So where did you get in contact with these guys??quote from Brown Davis
we still make many alloy drop tanks to suit your Torana, they are fully
baffled and come in a mill finish polish.(all our performance car tanks are
fully baffled to eliminate fuel surge)...
snip
I have a few queries that I would like to put to them in regards some extra modifications I would like done to a tank.
After close inspection of the 05 HDT Promo car here in Tas I can see where they were modified to prevent damage to the usual areas like corners and rear section that would scrape.
I am looking to get mine built with these as well as a few other additions but am unable to find how to contact them!
Any help appreciated.

Just my experience. Only thing with drop tanks is keeping an eye on the rear entry angle, a straight line extended from the bottom of the tire to the lowest rear part of the body work. Bear in mind, for this exercise, the exhaust pipes are considered as part of the body. Thought the copper had me when he pulled me up for it. Thank god it is on the Engineer's Certificate.

Clearance is fine as long as your not careless on driveways!!!
Only thing you need to be aware of with the B&D strapless tank is that it requires the strap mounting points nearest to the rear of the car to be ground off - as the tank sits flush with the rear boot sill.
I think you'll find the rego issues with the straped tanks is probably due to the extra weight put on the 4 strap attachment points - they were designed to hold 60kg of juce, not 120!! Saying that I had a hatch with a strapped 100lt tank and that never dropped its ball sack.
If you don't mind strapless then don't hesitate - go the brown and davis you won't regret it!!!!

So has anyone got some pics that show the mounting of both a strapless and strapped tank to the chassis rails?
mine is a strapless b/d tank. You can just see the angle sections on the side where the tank bolts on to the chassis.
Another tank with 1/2" lines+internal swirlpot
they look sooo nice there!!
