The market seems hot at the moment.  Good time to sell.  Agree that it is a waste letting it sit in the garage....

Jesus Brad you need to take it for a run for 20 min at least.

My cars sit in the garage for no longer than a month and I wash them at least monthly too.

I plan to read this thread from the start again soon. So epic.

If you don't like driving it...perhaps someone who lives nearby can do that task for you?? I'd even consider flying up for a holiday and stretching her legs!

Sorry, I lie. 29th May this year I took it down the road to the servo as the fuel had evaporated.

You need an hour run Brad or your mufflers will rust out. You need to get them hot enough so condensation doesn't collect in them.

This car would sell today I reckon for what you originally asked or more. The money people have been paying for lesser cars than this like $55k for that 4.2L SS needing resto and over $80k for that white/blue HK GTS in Canowindra needing some resto tell me advertised right you'd get over $70k for this. With proper 2" muffler and tailpipe (replacing the peashooters) this timeframe LH-LX (with the 250hp 9.7:1 308) is probably the fastest accelerating regular production car GMH built in the 70's (especially if optioned with a 3.08 rear axle).

So the 3.08 was an option ? , thought i was dreamin when you went 355 , (a bit short for that wagon) and 278 a bit tall ?

i probly woudn't worry too much about the pea shooters mainly for period correctness , but yeah , taller diff. and get out and

dry it out a bit , surely there is a bit of a hill above little mully and a turn around spot , just watch out for bikes :)

Been feeling guilty about not having the correct ignition leads and plus it's just another item that people pick on it as being incorrect.... So I ordered a set of these from the US. Can't get date coded stuff for anything after the last qtr of 1973 for some reason?

I think it's pretty much just the dual outlet water pump now that incorrect? Can you think of anything else?

Hi Brad, you could strip & Tig a water pump to convert to single outlet. Did the v8 leads have the red ends or the black originally? ? Gary.

grumpy

i think that if you put some work into the water pump

and were anygood at aluminium welding

you may achieve what you want

if you frig it up

don,t give up

try again

as a mechanical fitter i can say nothing is impossible

takes perseverance

and red / pink ends on black leads

Yeah I really should have investigated lopping off that extra outlet on the pump before I fitted it. Bugger.

I know I've seen other pics somewhere from back in the day showing red/pink ends. This is all I could dig up though.

Would be cheaper to get someone to do the Tig work & Brad port & shape it himself, so long as they don't bend the pump whilst welding it, you wouldn't tell. Anyone sell the bearings ect for the water pumps.
Yep the ends of the leads seem to be red in them photos, good to know. Gary.

Cutting one spout off and welding the hole just looks like someone cut one spout off and welded the hole.

Brad, please post a pic up when you have the spark leads on.

How did you come across Lectric Limited?

Good work Brad they are the same as the set l got from them last year- they are very authentic looking and work well.

I also got some spring ring battery leads at the same time- not made for Holdens with only "spring ring" on them and had

to extend the secondary cables but look better than aftermarket leads in my opinion.

Cheers again for the alternator spacer mate.

Hi Stuart, did the spring rings cost a lot for freight ? A friend enquired about them & it was a ridiculous freight price. Someone else apart from lectric were selling them cheaper, but i can't remember who it was.

Ahhh you have just reminded me. So it's water pump and battery terminals.

I did ask Lectric Linited if they could make a set of battery terminals to suit Torana but they were not interested. Shame.

Some people can finish repairs almost unable to pick, with the right tools, the patience that Brad obviously has (wish i had too) & a good clear photo & disassemble & reassemble a new pump, i can't see why he wouldn't do a convincing job of it honestly. But just my opinion. Gary.
