I always wire wheel stuff to be plated. Never abrasive blast, even though that's an easier option! :P

How am I going to get the zinc off now????

Even the bloke doing the zinc'ing reckons he blasts all the bits beforehand and then de-greases them.....Sounds like he has given me a bump steer...

I agree with bomber, the smoother you get that metal b4 u plate it the better,i like the air tool
idea, makes it a bit easy on the time factor, try and make look like a mirror b4 its plated, ever tried
soldering to a blasted surface.

Pedals are now black!

Along with the horn. I think SLR's are meant to have a High note and Low note horn? This has LN inside the bell? Low Note? Anyone got a HN they dont want??

Are these alloy or stainless? and did they "flick" off easily without damaging the grill?

They appear to be stainless. They were a very tight fit but eventually came off without damage.

Thanks for the comments mate! Im kind of at a standstill now, still waiting on the diff centre to be rebuilt, then I can get the housing 2 pac'd and fitted and get it back on its wheels. It needs a good wash with prepsol to get all the excess fish oil/cavity wax off from when I rust proofed it. Once thats done I can make a start of re-assembly!

Hahaha, hey mate! You still playing with Frauds over there?

Yeah everything was on a real roll there for a while but its all come to a halt waiting on others to complete things for me....

Ill have to get back onto the shop that has my diff.... its been over 2 months now.... Just got my Fuel Tank back on the weekend. It had a few small dings/depressions in it that have been repaired.

The diff/tank/trailing arms all needed to be painted then fit em in and its back on its wheels finally...

Initially I used paint stripper on the powder coat and wrapped it in glad wrap, then hit it with the gerni, then went over it with this big stripping pad on the orbital sander... Dunno what it's called but it hooks in! Time consuming... Powder coat is hard wearing stuff!!!

I'm using a PPG 2pac. I put one layer of masking tape over the bolt head to protect it, then use the metric equiv socket to do it up.
