tiptoein round the house, everytime u pick something up its like that old operation game.

happy new year all.
I took the pan off the vs motor to check a few things.
Put a new sump gasket on.
Bolted up the machined flywheel & new clutch.
Connected the t5 then dropped it in the g.s.e

battery tray needs to be relocated when using the 304 alternator/mount

quick look at where the vs t5 ends up.
Close to where the 6 cylinder 265 getrag was.

Looking good.  Have you sorted out a gearbox cross-member?

even the sender position & bolt pattern looks the same.
The monza tank filler is welded on. Not keen on blowing myself up but id like to use the filler neck on the wagon tank. Mite be able to fill the old with water & hacksaw it off?

if you are reading this it means i didnt blow myself up. Just gota get a couple of inchs of hose to join the filler neck to the tank. Im happy that it gets to keep the factory lockable fuel cap
ive fitted the vs wagon tank. Now gota give the gearbox crossmember some attention...

Yes, I've seen that pic. Sure does look like it was inspired by the VC. Should have picked a better colour!!

this is where im up to with the gearbox crossmember.
We chopped the outters off the VS crossmember to uterlise the mount setup.
its not welded to the cradle that a mate fabbed up, as im thinking it mite be best to wait until the tailshaft gets modifed.

not so lucky with it lining up with the factory holes.
Wil have add these plates & make it a 4 bolt setup.
Phil its about 3inchs between mount holes.

After 3 engine rebuilds, what a joy to hold it flat in 4th gear on one of the longest straights in OZ.
