Yeah fair enough. Its good your old man wants to get involved.

Just give it a good clean up and try and get it running etc. You will learn a lot that way.

Oo now's a good time to ask this then, are the old torana engines okay to just pressure wash down? or will that mess with the electricals?

i'll most likely wash the rest of the outside of the car with truck wash, in the shade of course :P

BTW: grats on 1000posts haha

cover the carb and dissy (the round thing with thick wires coming out of it)
with a plastic bag or you could spray with wd-40 or ccr 50/start ya bastard
or even some solvent based degreaser if your desperate
to stop water getting in where it shouldn't be
but yeah so long as it's not disassembled yet you will be fine
if it don't start just take the cap off and dry/spray some wd-40 in and replace the cap and it should go again

thanks, is that both the carby and the dizzy i need to cover or is it just one of them.

Umm evidently he uses unleaded + an addative mixed together becuases it originally ran on leaded fuel but that fuel has been phased out?

and the carby oppisite it
i would cover the gromet hole (the black hole in the middle of the red thingo)
on the very top of the motor with a plug of some type too
oh morleys lead replacement crap?
for $60 you can get a kit that plugs straight into the fuel line nad after that all you have to do is replace the bottle

looks more "red dust" to me
you may have to hit it with the pressure washer a couple of times, get nice and personal with it and get a brush on it to loosen it up
wear your "wet" gear as you will get wet m8t

If my truck wash does as nice of a job as it did on my motorbike i'm sure it'll be fine then,

Btw, where did you buy this 'leaded fuel kit' ? is there a specific name for it or brand that sells them?

thanks Ryan, if it had the air cleaner on it and it was mine i dont bother about covering up anything, just blast it and it if dont start its usally only a bit of water in the dizzy cap so out with the compressor take the cap of and blow it dry and wal'a shes a go'a just take it a bit easy around the carbi, coil, oil filler cap and dip stick. oh and dont hammer the radiator to hard with the hose or gurni as theres a good chance you might trash the fins. but all in all take Ryan's advice a do heaps of research, theres not really that much to keeping the good old docks alive and well.

heres a parts car i bought that sat in this chicks yard undriven or started for just over 2 year there about, i drove it home with a shagged battery, stail fuel i just topped it up with 10ltrs of ulp and a half a cup down the carbi and it still stood up to the challenge and it was and auto 173 lol
