Sorry Brad, have been out of the office for the last few months and only now reading your post, been trying to jump online from home but lifes been busy unfortunatly

Good news is that the first half of the stock has left and is due to arrive in our wharehouse in the middle of next month so should be available a couple of days after that depending on how busy the guys who will kit it with all the fasteners etc are.

we are taking back orders on the product though, part number BC1009

Righto, finally got a hold of one of these. I dont know what it should look like.... but dosnt seem to be much cable at the end poking out??? Havnt got the nose cone on yet so hard to tell if its going to be long enough??? Seems awfully short???

The overall length of the inner cable from knob end to wire end is 182.5mm.

What the heck, I dug it out anyways, ha ha...

I replaced it with an aftermarket billet handled one, so had the original one packed away. I can only imagine this is the original one ?

Pic of the cable length is with the knob pushed all the way in of course...

THANK YOU JEFF. I reckon that length would be ideal. Mine is also pushed all the way in but only has 15mm poking out.

Hopefully someone at Rare Spares can chime in and double check a cable they have in stock.

The little car picture with the bonnet up is different on the new one too...not sure if that is an LH to LX thing, or just a repo versus original thing ?

Notice on mine the drawing is an outline made up of twin white lines, where yours' is a solid while line outline..

And no problem on the pics/measurements !

Perhaps the outer part of your's is over length ? You could slide the inner part out a few inches and slice off some of the outer, which would let the inner poke through the right amount ?
Of course that might make the outer sleeve too short, hmmmmm....guess I should go back out in the shed and measure the outer sleeve part of mine too, lol

Oh yeah. Notice that now! Doh...

I tried to run the cable in the position it would be expected to go and fitted the bonnet latch also. Its verrrrrrry tight with fitting... If it had 50mm poking out it would reach. I reckon its been cut to short. The box it came in did look a bit dodgy when I got it.

The one I have is 72" long from the end of the outer sleeve (on the bonnet latch end) to the other end flange (end of the threads, that the knob hits against basically)

The length of it looked stock all along at least, and worked perfectly..had been that way for some time now of course. (I just went with a billet one mounted differently since I mounted my OBDII port under the dash where the original knob went basically)

Brad, just read this & thought I better check my new Rares cable as well.
Unfortunately your suspicions are correct. The outer cable is fine as Jeff
has measured at 72'' but the inner is at least 1/2 inch too short. It JUST gets
to the latch but dos'nt go through the hole. I'm going to PM Les about this
as well as the radiator hose clamps that are too big.

I wonder if there is a possible way to release the wire inner from the handle knob section and re-crimp a longer piece in there.

It should have been re-produced on the longer side anyways to allow people to then trim to suit.
