Thanks for the tips guys,

I wasn't sure if they would let it pass. I have a set of crappy seats i will put in in the inspection with seat covers.

I also had a crack at paint color with photo shop. I still want to work on a pearl bonnet and cut out and possibly the Bartlett racing stripe.

I picked up this dove leather interior a while back for $500.
It didnt come with front seats so I may get my front seats uphostered to match or get the lot dyed black.
It included a nice 1000 watt amp and 2 alpine speakers!
The interior is out of the insane black twin turbo hatch that was in street machine last year.
Pedegree parts!! They will clean up real nice.
Yes, in the photo of the back seats i know the top half is upside down.

Yeah, NO food, drink, mud, dirt, pencils, crayons.......................

At least leather is easily cleaned.

Any one dyed leather before?

I'm not using vinyl spray and would prefer black interior.

Don't you have to remove the skin from the seat to dye?

I rang a guy in Perth that does it and apparently not. I wonder how even the spread would be.

I would hate to jump in the car and get out with a black dye all over me!

Wouldnt surprise me if you sweated.

Still remember the first time i wore my leather riding gloves in terrential rain.....100km trip in pissing down rain got there and my hands were black from the dye in the gloves....

Had to work the pub i was bouncing at at the time with everyone comment on my hands hahaha. Lucky it was a smallish pub with a frequent regular clientele.

Cheers.

If you're doing the exterior in a maroon fake candy then I reckon the light coloured interior would actually suit it well.

The engine looks awesome by the way. Should go fine for the time being.

Agreed. Dark exterior light interior is sexy.

Cheers.

I agree white interior look goods with a candy. For some reason I don't like a white dash. It just inst tough enough for a muscle car.
I also have to get all the bits to match. I have black crash pad, wood grain dash and door trims, white front seats and grey back seats.
I think i am going to do an upholsterers course at TAFE so I can keep with the DIY theme and save buck.

What do they say? Teach a man the fish..............and he we build a f#$%king Torana.....

Cheers for the comments on the engine. I think it looks mad.
It will only be a cruiser....................for now................

Hi All,

Been a while since I have posted an update. Just about finished the body filler work. Want to get it right.

I have my next project ready to go. 1969 HT Monaro (only 186 not GTS )

Just a rolling shell with a crap load of rust! Nothing the old mig wont fix.

Having this in the shed should get me motivated to get the Torry finished.

Im thinking silver mink with a 350 chev.

Bring it on!

Spent the weekend applying fillers and hi build to the passenger side of the hatch. Next week. 2 K black guide coat and I will carve it all back all again. Hours and hours of sanding fun. Got the metal work spot on so the lines in the panels line up nice.

looking good mate, just so you know, I would say your going to need to get a shorter belt for your gilmer drive or the alternator will hit the chassis rail/undertray

Yeah Makka,
The old girl is starting to look good.
I will trail fit the engine and box and see were it sits.
I know that's the second one? does anyone know what size i need for that type of bracket.
I call the Gilmer a poor mans blower.

A little update.
Pulled my finger out today and started working on the Torry again.
Blocked down and finished one side of the car. Spent the time to get it right.
This is a pick of my mate trying to unlock the boot on the Monaro.
Looks funny!
Shit load of rust in this old girl. I will finish the Torry first.

Yeah Stinga,

The good thing about having the Monaro waiting there is she reminds me to finish the Torry quick so I can start on her.
Check out the rusted floor pans in the photo above.

Nearly a Flinstones car.

Put your feet down and run!

Spent a solid two days blocking the Torry down. 3-4 solid weekends to go till she is ready and prepared for paint.

Velocity red here we come!

Alright,

Green light from the missus to get this car done!
Started with guide coat. Then blocked the UC down. Did 3 quarters of the car with 320 grit. I was pretty happy with the finish, my body filler application is getting better.
I like this shot my Holden muscle car garage. Post more pics tomorrow.

Has anyone got tips on how to touch up rub through to metal on high spots? I have the panels like glass but have one spot 5 mm that has popped up. Do I dolly it down and re high build the whole side of the car or can I touch it up? I am using 2k Dupont high build and blocking down with a large Durablock with 320 grit and a using prep sol to identify the highs and lows.
Cheers

Dolly, sand, squirt. No need to do the whole panel.

Cheer Guys,
As always Rodomo and Bomber Watson with the answers!
So would you about a 50ml mix and spray through the spray gun like normal?

Also,
A mate and I were arguing about using acrylic guide coat under 2 pack. My understanding is it wrinkles. Is this true? He is arguing that it will be sanded off anyway. I think he will struggle to get all of it in the gaps. What do you think?

Thats the purpose of a guide coat, to rub it completely off and leave none behind. Otherwise you can leave ruff areas. Have used any crap in a can for years, rubbed all off never had a problem.
