iv spoken to a machinest mate previously about alloy hubs, i was looking at them for the rear floater kit. he advised me againest them from a reliability stand point.
he had no doubt there ok for the time been, but long term racing no.
an alloy hub would be one of those components that are "lifed", after a certain race distance they are replaced regardless whether they pass an inspection.
this is why i was talked out of it.
food for thought.

The alloy hubs are disposable and if your doing a lot of kms then I certainly wouldn't use them on the street. I have both and swap between them depending on street or track. They save quite a few kgs which is very important on the track. Funny once your on the weight saving your looking at every kg you can get. Weight saving is an obsession and parts are starting to look like swiss cheese ..... LOL

If its only a street car .... then forget the alloy hubs.

I've given one of those hubs to a machinist to get assessed

And yes they have a lifespan
Many race classes already use alloy hubs inc many speedway classes especially in US
You can buy off the shelf hubs there... cheap
But likely to be unsuitable for what we want

Let me know what he says mate, for my purposes it may suit nicely and i'm happy to do NDT as needed.

If the price is right i have no issues with lifing the part.

You free wednesday or thursday morning to come to Balcatta?
