Hi,
I am trying to find a previous owner of my A9X sedan.
I have some old receipts that shows he had it serviced at a place called the Esso Car Care Centre,Corner of May and Pittwater Roads in Dee Why. The date on the invoices is Jan 1985 so its a fair while ago. His name is Tony Zaccone.
Has any one here heard of him?
I am trying to piece together the history of my car and have come up with a blank with this name.
I have a few questions to ask regarding engine numbers etc. to help solve some questions about the car.
Does this car care centre still exist? I have rang the phone number but got through to a hospital.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Heres a couple, it has in fact been resprayed Ferrari Red by an owner about 15 years ago. Windows tinted and drop tank fitted by other owners over the years.I wont show under the bonnet as it has VT heads and holley which in my opinion looks un natural for this car.
I have spoken to Tony . He was the second owner of the car. All he could tell me was he bought it off a woman from Campbelltown ( NSW I presume) who ran a large tyre business. Goodyear or something .
He sold it to someone in Canberra which matches the info i have.
My next search is for this woman. I don't have her name but if Tony can remember he will let me know.
Is any one here from Campbelltown who knows of a large tyre business? Possibly Goodyear that was around in the early 80's.
I have got the yellow pages out and will see what I can come up with.
Thanks to this forum and LS1LX I have a whole new search to go on with.
Greatly appreciated I can assure you.

I haven't had any luck yet.
Does some one know any one at the rta NSW that may be able to find out the rego number or listed owners if I supply the vin number?
I have sent an e mail but have had no response.
I figured it may help if some one here knew some body behind the desk.
I am trying to locate owners either side of Tony. I have no names to go by however (as yet).
Tony sold the car to a "uni student" who came from Canberra in the late 80's.
This guy planned on doing a rebuid on it but kept it for 2 years and never got around to it.
He then sold it to "Roy" who did rebuild it.
This is where all my info catches up and i can trace the rest.
So can some one here remember a guy who owned a red A9X from Canberra for about 2 years?

Yes. This is the car Roy rebuilt around 1990. I have been in contact with him. He can't remember the guys name he bought it off.
Likewise Tony can't remember who he sold it to ! All I know is he was a uni student.
This car wasn't registered when Roy got it, so I can't trace the owner that way.
I would love to locate this middle man as he may still have some info relating to this car that Tony passed on but Roy never received. Thanks.

Mmm, uni student? He/she could be anywhere now. If Roy doesn't know then I don't know anybody else that would. I emailed you Roy's contacts when you emailed the Club.

Yes I got that thanks Yella SluR.
I have been in contact with him for a while now.
I realise this guy could be any where now. My only real hope now is if I can come across someone who may know him and remember him having this car.
I thought I'd try the club first as your members are Torana enthusiasts and may have had some recollections of this car.
I have a couple of other ideas I can try so will keep at it.

Thanks to hg350 I have discovered my car was originally sold by
Dwyers City Holden in Wollongong.
This dealer is still operational.
Any body know what their business decal looks like?

Just got a reply back from the N.S.W. RTA regarding a search for my Torana. Unfortunately:
" The RTA is progressively destroying old microfilm records in compliance with the requirements of the State Records Act. Currently this process has destroyed all records between 1974 and 1980."
also:
"....... the records held for the period prior to 1982 were destroyed in early 2006."
So that's that by the looks of it. Darn it !!!
Now just waiting for a reply from Dwyer's City Holden to see if they can help.
It's been three weeks now with no reply so getting a bit anxious.

Just an update,
I didn't get a response from the letters I sent to Dwyer's so I decided to just ring and find out if they could help in any way.
Had a chat to Toby in sales, at least he showed some interest!
Like most places they only keep records for 5 years as well as the business having changed hands over the years any info has been lost.
I figured this would be the case but I spose it was worth a shot.
Was hoping that a salesman was still working there and may have remembered it. However this would probably put them into their sixties by now!!!
Have found an organisation called the Campbelltown Family History Society.
They may be able to help find this first owner from the Goodyear tyre centre.
Here's hoping any how.....

Well the Campbelltown Historical Society have been able to put me in touch with the first operator of the Goodyear Tyre Centre in Campbelltown. I called this guy and unfortunately he was not the owner of my car. He did give me the names of the next two owners so I am going to throw them up here to see if any one recognises them. The guy I talked to opened the business in 1977 and then sold it to Chris Featherstone. It then changed hands again to David Everett. Dave had a nick name which was "Ducaro Dave" or similar. Chris has since moved north somewhere and I haven't tried to find him yet. I have gone through the phone book and called all the D Everett's without any success. I will now try Everitt and see how I go.
Can any one help in any way please?
I just hope I am not on a wild goose chase but its all I have at the moment. LS1LX has been an enormous help so far and it is much appreciated.
