Pfft, you demand lots.

Your right, i have been ultra slack.

Sale fell through on the fireblade, but it did actually sell on Saturday (different party) so im now finally one bike less.....

Have done very little to the KZ, i was having troubles trying to get it aligned so pulled EVERYTHING off the frame and di d a heap of tape measure work/stringlines running everywhere plumbobs dangling from every ledge and a laser level shining on it, turns out the frames dead straight, cool, and thats about as far as i got.

Still need to get around to visiting some shops and seeing if anyone likes my idea of a custom rear swingarm.....But i've been working on other stuff (nothing fun sadly)

Cheers.

Looks like a cafe with high bars and a slightly more comfy riding position??

On a slow bike like this i think cafe would be better hehe.

Cool 12 months has passed.

As per usual i should point out, i have a very short attention span, and tend to have 500,000,000 projects on the go at once and frequently jump from one to the other.

About six months ago i made a jig bench for this bike.

C8CC737D-774D-4A36-810B-8234FBA8B6B9-109

And jigged it up.

B09AD6DF-9A73-4E3B-B4CC-31C66218D93F-109

Then lost interest until tonight, when those picks were taken.

Spent a couple of hours clucking about on it, cut the actual pivot off the stock swingarm and cleaned it up so its ready to go when i make a new one, procrastinated a bit, played around, pulled the badges and cap off the tank, thats about it.

Twas sparked by a mate from work, he just brought a CB250 that he intends to cafe, we used my ute to pick it up and drop it off at his, made me want to work on mine again.

Dont expect another update for a while, but you never know....

Cheers.

So I guess we'll just take this as an update to remind us all how you just can't be #@$^%&, and 6 months from now you'll update us with what you haven't done lmao

Just revvin ya mate!

REvvin or not, its pretty true!!!

Cash is tight atm, so what i can frOck with for free or frOck all is something to frOck with, this project may get a nudge as i dont need to spend much to go far.

Specially cause my interest is increased, two lads i know getting cafe's on the road shortly....I must join.....

Cheers.

Right, i looked at this twice in a week. WOW.

Had a bit more of a play around tonight, I refitted the swing arm bushes to the cut off swing arm pivot tube thing and fitted that up, then started mentally planning the brackets for the wheel end.

I decided I should have a look at where the shocks are going to sit, see if i cant make the bracket all in one. Turns out i cant, but had a small win.

I put the shocks back on, i already knew i'd have to move the right hand side one outboard to clear the brake caliper, but realized with my new slightly exaggerated ride height in the bum (looks phat) that the shocks were ludicrously short.

70D1689F-0B8E-45AA-93D0-42D0E7698272-246

Would look silly having 15 meter long lower shock mounts, and the bottom eye of the right hand shock lined up perfectly with the brake caliper bolt, making everything very inconvenient.

I was about to get onto the phone to a few lads i know with twin shock rear bikes to get them to pull the tape measure out, then i remembered the 82 KZ750 i have siting around the side of the shed under a cover (I breed old bikes)

Wandered around in the semi darkness with a tape, and wala, 40mm longer shocks. Win.

Cover off, bike up on center stand, shocks off.

19DAB77B-4A2E-4FFD-A9C8-AB372A03B598-246

When i got them inside i realized they were Koni's!! Double win.

D5B66051-4DF6-4571-BD93-3A6E73EB5683-246

B341B72B-E380-4F9F-919B-117D2A81CE3E-246

Fair bit longer than the stock KZ400 ones, and a nice progressive spring. They dont feel to much stiffer than the stock ones so should be ok i hope.

CBF8FE27-51BB-4C79-8AC3-6DCCB35B8258-246

And dummied up

BEDD0678-534D-475A-890B-8350B93E97CB-246

8A56864F-CB1A-4D44-A916-9F0AA5D03847-246

7781041A-969E-41AC-A882-B5624C619AAC-246

C49783C2-8736-4323-8FFC-BC84BA377B1F-246

THe lengh of the shock is much better suited to this project, Providing the springs arnt to stiff (i want it a bit soft in the bum) they should work well. May be able to still get off the shelf softer springs, dunno.

Had a bit more looking and procrastinating, still wondering where the frOck im going to mount the battery for instance, but thats about all i can show in picks from tonight.

Cheer.

Hahaha, the cardboard box most likely wont be big enough to fit a battery once its the actual shape i want....Just made it to help work out the static ride height, made it easyer to envision the lines.

Mmmm 150 lashes....

Cheers.

Sorry bout that.

Anyway, moving right along.

Yesterday i borrowed some angle figurerouterers off a lad at work, and figurerouterered some angles.

And cut some pipe.

Productive day.

8EC57B0B-A9CE-4F01-907E-D77474C68991-321

Today after work i bent said pipe to the figurerouterered angles using the flash wizbang bender at work.

I love it when shit works first time, plenty of room everywhere.

Supervisor looked content with my progress.

77A01FB9-D9C5-4A2E-A7E1-0DA193183229-384

Then i spent the rest of the night frOcking around designing the axle end bracket things i need to make, will start on them tomorrow at work where we have mills and shit.

Ave fun.

Amazingly i still have interest in this project, usually i dont last more than 2-3 days on any one thing.

Yesterday I cut out the new axle end bracket things.

I needed it to be 16mm thick, atleast 40mm high and around 120-130mm long...The only thing we had in the steel rack in 16mm was 100x16 flat so that worked well.

Just took a slice in the bandsaw at 130mm then cut that in half. Win.

Looked like this:

2F39063D-F32D-41D8-875A-4F74BE736B3B-482

Then i did the "deal of a lifetime" as i put it to the apprentice machinist at work, He wanted the new airbox and snorkel he had made up for his Patrol painted, had been quoted $250 to powdercoat it, and i wanted my bits of metal machined, win.

Painted his stuff yesterday, he fitted it today at lunch time, and just after work i got handed these.

0CA38315-9ECD-4B13-823B-11CFE6659389-482

E27D1A09-FB7E-43B4-8723-0B100D58416D-482

He had decked them off level on the three sides that were important, and cut the slot for me as required.

PERFECT!!! I like deals like this, didnt cost me a cent (had the materials at work) to paint his stuff, and didnt cost me a cent to get my plates nicely machined. Both parties walked away happy, always good.

He also lent me a 8x1.25 tap and the correct drill for said tap, so i proceeded to drill and cut the thread for the CBR250RR slack adjuster once i got home with a nice cold one on hand....

Like a glove.

Thats it for now :D

Cheers.

Thats right i forgot you had Sheeny on FB.

If i can get it registered it will be, if i cant, well, i dont really give a frOck.

Everything i am doing to the bike meets or (in most cases greatly) exceeds OEM specification and the relevant ADR's for the year of the frame, also everything is within the published modification guidelines on the QLD transport website for motorcycles. So i cant see why i couldnt register it, but, this is QLD, and our laws are #@$^%& up.

ll depend on the road worthy inspector on the day.

Cheers.

Just looked on FB and yep, there it is.

Dunno if everyone will be able to see this?

But this is the snorkel and airbox i painted in exchange for the machining...

1454915_10151976560494723_703903688_n.jp

Came out pretty sexy, for a Nissan part.....Glad i talked him into Satin over Gloss black....even though it was more work for me.

I wanted to bog the welds and make the snorkel smooth, he didnt, his loss :P

Cheers.
