Hey really nice ride Keith,

Engine bay is awesome, really tidy, in fact I would go so far as
to say it is one of the nicest I have ever seen in a six cylinder UC.
The silver grey and black covers looks hot.

I think YELLA owes you an appology!! Probably thinking of a way
to explain that remark... come on Yella, say you're sorry
!!

Well done Keith, as a member nearly twice your age, it is really
cool to see a young'n so in to cars like this.

Keep the pics comming.

Cheers, Leakey

He He, thanks!!

I've got more pics, more detail too i suppose! I took a video of her running today! I still dont know how to post up links to video's yet...

Here's an 'updated' pic with all four wheels painted silver!

On my previous post you will note the bonnet latch is chrome, the brake booster has had a touch up, the ignition coil is remotely located on the lower engine bay panel and the lack of engine fan running off the belt!

I should post a current shot of the engine bay from the back and the sides also, its one of those things where detail has gone into all 360 degrees of the bay!

looks nice keith, so where you running a 9 volt coil? a ballast resistor type for a while were you? and now you have the proper electric one.

I cant wait to see it with the tripples on it!

Lol, no ive always had the 12 volt one, but i thought it wouldnt hurt to get a new one as mine was getting old!!

It'll look hot with the triples!! I'm gonna polish them up before i get them fitted and tuned (then polish them after the tune)... Aiming for 170rwhp, which is achieveable! I'd settle for that! If i cant reach that, then the head's coming off for some more port work!! And a shave!

Sweet ride keith, looks real tidy! How the hell are you getting under 15 in this with a 350 holley? That's very impressive, and surprising, if you are being a honest boy. I didn't think the 5 litre SLRs did those times??

Anyway, not to take any credit away, it's all good all the same. I am doing up a 6 too so it's nice to see different variations. Nice work.

Lol, you lads.... HAHA!!

I did a series of runs down the strip. I even posted my time slips in order of what run i did. I pulled off a few low 16's, couple of 15's and a 14.852 @ 95mph... It took a bit to get the right wheelspin to grip setting, and i played around with the timing and fuel/air mixtures a bit! Same deal with tyre pressures!

Next time it sees the drag strip it'll have triple SU's on there!

Cheers for the encouragement guys - 'Keithy appreciates it very muchly'!!

UPDATE: 22 March 2006

I will be taking the UC to Townsville Mechanical Services within the next week for a Dyno Tune! I will post up the readout here, and also in the 'Expected Rear Wheel Horsepower' thread...

Stay tuned folks!

Well guys.... It's official! I have the UC back, with the 350 Holley on it still, and while its not the most horsepower, its certainly a good result in anyone's speak!

The average of the three runs was 96.3rwkW (about 130HP in old speak), and the highest of the three runs was 101.2rwkW, so roughly 135HP!!

Here's the average run printout!

Posted Image

It unfortunately doesnt say what rpm its at, but he said he took it up to about 6500rpm, max HP was at 5800rpm, so im pleased about that!

Cheers man (finally 21!! YAY!!), yeah, ive still got plans for it! I'm yet to fit the 5speed, i'm gonna get my diff converted to borg warner (from a wrecked VL my mate has, and hence make the conversion to commodore stud pattern. Then a set of 16" Simmons will be going on, or Walkinshaw wheels (16" also - not a fan of 17's on torrys...)!

I've got to do the interior, which will be re-trimmed in VT SS Blue with UC embrioded in the seats, ill remove the spare wheel well and get a nice shiny 100L drop tank fitted and im gonna remove the 179HP in a month or so and get the engine bay re-sprayed in Subaru Brumby silver. To compliment that, im taking the chrome side plates off the 179 and putting black KC alloy ones on, the triple SU's will be getting rebuilt while the motor is out, the head will go in for a shave and more port work and im gonna make a custom alloy plenum for the triples.

I'm gonna gerni the undercarriage and spray it in black (its a daily driver so nothing fancy), paint my tailshaft and diff again then look into a custom boot install as well... I have a 12" subwoofer in there now, so im gonna do a custom install with the spare tyre sitting in a 'false floor' directly above the tank. The drop tank will sit low enough to fit the spare in there... Failing that ill just simply not run a spare tyre!

I'm gonna also get the bumpers professionally straightened and re-chromed/buffed! The exhaust from the diff will be 2 1/2" stainless and i have a secret custom UC tail light design on the cards too...

If thats not enough, i'm gonna have the word 'TORANA' airbrushed on the bonnet either side of the badge (i.e. TOR[]ANA). And a mural painted on the bonnet also.

If i've missed something, i sure as hell cant remember it!!

Cheers
Keith

Unfortunately my back seat didnt like the cargo on the trip down, and as a result i now have a few tears in the seat... Shame!
And YES i have my new GMH-TORANA sticker on the car, the other two small ones i have are in decision on where they should go yet!

Enjoy!
