Little bit of progress, the inner and outer sills are off, well the inner sills are semi off, and door pillars are off ready for sand blasting, FINALLY. The VL motor and box is out and the HJ Kingswood 253 will go in with dummy turbo :tease:

As stupid as it sounds yes, but temporarily. There is a reason for this madness, and that is to get it regoed/engineered with a 4.2ltr turbo ASAP before the RTA changes the modification rules.
The next step will be to replace the 253T with a 4.1ltr turbo Nissan V8 (coming in a shipping container from Japan as we speak, arrive in April/ May) which will take considerably longer to achieve, because its not a straight forward fit, and by then the RTA rules would have changed but it wouldnt matter as the Torana will be regoed/engineered with 4.2T before the rule change.
Long story short, trying to dodge the RTA legally. Hopefully.

Hey Bart, your project is looking good! How did you go about the EFI fuel pumps? Did you use the standard internal/external VL setup? I'm in the process of modifying my spare tank to accept a standard VL internal pump. What we're doing is using a pick-up/sender assembly out of a vl, but cutting the sender off, and mounting the pump straight off the mounting plate. (like cutting the pickup tube to about 1" long, and having the pump go straight off that). Then we're gonna mount that in from the top of the tank, and leave the standard torana pickup and sender untouched. But we are also going to use a 1.8Lt surge tank mounted in the boot, and have the 910 pump running off that. I'll try and get some photos for you asap. Goodluck dodging the RTA!!! Hope i can get my thing engineered!!!!!

I used the original pick up, the Holley Blue lifted the fuel, pumped it into the surge tank, i used a VL pump from the surge tank to the engine. I used the original fuel line as the return line, the line going to the engine is stainless steel flexable.

thanks guys appreiciate the compliments.
shit i forgot about the hole in the rounded section, i havnt welded the sill on yet so i can do it a little later.
When the weld thru primer and cavity wax arrives from Wurth i will weld the sill on and complete one side.
Yes alot of late nights but thats ok as that is when my brain works well, sort of  , if only i had a workshop out in the sticks with nobody to keep awake i would be in heaven :D hehehe
hopfully next weekend i will get most of the other sill done fingers crossed.
thanks again guys :spoton:

naa mate havnt got to that stage yet, if you remember a few months back i found out the rules were going to change just when i chopped out the sills and the front end was off, now its a race against time to weld it up and prime it up for rego and engineer with 253 dummy turbo.
last i heard the rules havnt changed yet :furious:

I haven't heard anything either,I've finally got some cash saved up to get back into but I'm not sure whether to get what I have passed or to get a full rollcage put in if I want to step up & still race at wsid as well drive the car on the street.Ive always wanted to put a vortech on mine, just not sure about the timeframe, not to mention those damn rule changes.

just get it engineered as is, then if you want, get the roll cage later, otherwise your whole car will be illegal   and that would be a damn shame mate

Today im upto the rear lower window sill as it was rusted out and i just welded the new rare spares one in, today im cleaning it up. :spoton:
then hopfully get other sill started

I'll have a chat to an engineer first.I've just found a 253/m20 kingswood so I might end up going the same route as you but I should have it planned out by end of next week after speaking to an engineer.
