Hey Guys

I have a genuine Torana console on my LH (lift up lid compartment at the front). I am in the process of converting from Manual to Auto.

I am wondering if the aftermarket auto inserts from rare spares actually fit properly with this set up?

they look too long to fit in the console having the lid at the front...

alternatively does anyone have a genuine one they want to sell?

Cheers

Kal

Funnily enough I'm in the process of going auto to manual on an LH

And I bought the Rares shifter boot assy to suit... haven't tried it yet though

Datto check the pattern and the colour of the paint on the parts you got from Rare Spares I returned mine a few weeks ago as I noticed they don't match by colour

check them and you will see what I mean

Datto I think you missed what I was getting at .....not the console ..but the two parts with fish scale finish that are located around the shifter and the coin box ....

Check the finish and colour of them .....even Rare Spares agreed with me that its not right

Kal, is that manual shifter of yours shortened? Looks shorter than a standard one?

Plus do you know what is the brand of shifter knob you have there?

No its actually longer then a standard shifter. It sits high. And sorry I cant remember what brand the gear knob is. It was just bought from autobarn. Does anyone on here have the auto insert to suit my style of console?

No fishies on mine... woodgrain

New manual boot is black with a fishy finish... not building a concourse resto... so will be fine for me

Can some one verify that a hq/j/x/z center console gear selector section is the same as the torana ones?

I can only see the selection panel under Kingswoods and the full repo console under torana.

I thought that the console insert sections should match the dash facia.

i.e. For - LH SL & SL/R - dark timber, S & SL/R5000 - black 'Caribou' grain.

For LX - S -  black 'Caribou' grain, SL - light timber, SS, SL/R & SL/R5000 - Silver finish.

To my knowledge the 'fish scale' finish was unique to HQ.

As you can see by the one Datto is holding in his post it has the fish type scales that I have been talking about and that's all Rare spares sells

so what is the right one / finish for a LH SLR 5000

I have many different ones here all with different finishes

Gotta get a new one for myself as mine has worn and starting to develop some holes. $72.00 perfect.

as I listed above:-

"i.e. For - LH SL & SL/R - dark timber, S & SL/R5000 - black 'Caribou' grain."

It is the black plastic that has a vinyl type 'grain' running thru it.

Is this the fish scale pattern you speak about Dr Terry? Found this fitted to an SLR 5000 console sold recently on AMCS.
