Hello knowledgable people.

I've a dilema that has just begun in my HZ. It has a VK black 308 and it looks to me like a Trimatic (Do the TH400's look signifigantly different???) with a factory 10 bolt disc brake LSD rear in it.

A week ago was driving it home and noticed a vibration start under acceleration. Enough so that the dash has begun rattling a little now. It completely disappears when i back off the noise pedal. I climbed under it today to check the drive shaft U-bolts, they are solid as, and there is no play in the unis. From what i can tell the engine mounts are solid also. At idle everything is supurb. I could see no loose bolts or anything under the car.

So, any idea what i could look for now?

Here is a pic of her too.

Thanks for the reply. Box fluid is right, and clean as. THere is no noise or whine fro the diff at all either.

Got me stuffed. Might have to go to the shop to get it checked...

Check the idler arm. My Hz ute vibrates a little at about 80kph and I thought it was the unis in the tailshaft too but mine are good. Got a bloke at the local wheel and suspension place to look at it as I recently got wheels fitted and thought it might have been wheel balance or alignment but my idler arm wobbles a bit. He said it was that.

gday TH400 is a lot bigger but the easiest way to tell is by looking at the tranny pan if you imagine it as being a rectangle a TH400 has the driverside front and back edges cut off, a trimatic has a rectangle cut out of the front drivers side corner and a TH350 has the front driverside corner cut off at something like 45 degrees

Can you replicate the vibration by slowly bringing the engine speed up to the critical level whilst in park. If so l'd be taking a look at the harmonic balancer.

check the rear wheel bearings ...and brake drums
another option is to put it on pedders shock machine/report for $14...but get quotes from others BEFORE getting work done

got the chance to look yesterday. Seems the vibration does come up while revving in park. Guess i might just change the harmonic hey?
