They already had done it with the Suburban too...
I've still got a Holden badge from one, they fit over the bowtie opening in the standard Chev truck grill..

The 3rd Gen Holden Monaro was sold as a Pontiac GTO in the USA and a Vauxhall Monaro in the UK. It was not sold as a Chevrolet, the engine was not built by Chevrolet.
Therefore putting a Chevrolet badge on the 3rd Gen Monaro makes as much sense as putting a Cadillac, Buick, Opel, SAAB or GMC badge on a 3rd Gen Monaro.
The Chevrolet engine badges on the 1st and 2nd Gen Monaros make sense when the 1st and 2nd Gen Monaros were fitted with the optional Chevrolet engines. Some people just didn't realise that Chevrolet don't make engines anymore and mistakenly carried the tradition over the the 3rd Gen Monaros

If the Chev badged Dunny owners would only fill their hollow heads with Windex they would increase their productivity in the window licking industry,
resulting in a stronger Australian economy and a better life for every citizen.

I'm pretty sure the Vauxhall version was actually a HSV which makes it the only HSV Monaro.
In many HK-HQ Australian models a Chevrolet small block engine was not optional, it was either standard fitment (HK-HQ 1837 and also HQ Chevrolet350/Caprice "Statesman") or was the standard V8 engine (HK) or for a time in HT was the standard V8 auto engine.

To make things worth the fake intercooler on the cruze, that's super gay that shit. If he was my neighbour, I'd sell up.

There is logic to it though as the cars were built by Holden. The opposite applies to the GenII onwards engines (GenII being the one-piece rear main seal LT style engines) - they were not made by Chevrolet.

The Red VF is RHD so it left the Elizabeth VAP with Holden badges.
