I have been putting oil in my carby's for 25 years and have never had a problem or any issures with them.
my 6D needles and springs and needle and seats are 42 years old and the car is well maintained xu-1.

I know the the work shop manual says no oil added, and these days you have to remember we don't have leaded.

fuel anymore ,so a drop of singer sewing machine won't hurt it with performance at all and running costs.

Regards John.

Throttle screw (idle stop screw) adjusts the butterfly plate opening in the throttle body.

Idle (mixture) screw on a downdraft carb adjusts the idle fuel flow  The CD Strombergs on the XU1 don't have an idle mixture screw as such. The equivalent to an idle mixture screw on the XU1 carbs is the jet adjuster.

Some models of CD Strombergs do have an idle trimming screw, basically an idle air bleed screw that bypasses the bridge.
