Gday all, intend on running my nc lj racer down the quarter before dragseason ends. Being historic Circuit race car its running quick 202 webers, m21 4 speed, 205/13 and 3.55 diff. I intend on trying get few other historic cars down there for a giggle, so for bragging rights.... What diff ratio should I be running and what tyres?
Cheers

Cheers. . I thought the 3.55 might be ok. I don't think my semi slicks will cut it.? Was thinking street radials rather than outlay decent coin for slicks. Would assume front runners needed then too?

genuinely curious to what the old girl Can do

Cheers

Depends on tyre size

I used to run 3.9's in mine

As for front runners... if your running radial rears you should stick with radial fronts

If your running rags on the back... same on the front

However probably not needed unless you think your in the 11 second or faster bracket... even then not mandatory

Nowhere near the 11s.. rekon the power to weight should see high 12s but just comparing to old datto i used to run. Was hoping run radials rear and semi slick fronts.. cheaper alternative but u boys know best

Being a historic only running 205 60 13 atm..

Semi slicks would be better than radials you would think

On the back i mean

Et street radials would be the go, they do a 215/60/14 I'm pretty sure!

Ps I ran my old carby turbo gem to 13.5's running an advan 032r semi slick, 205/60/13, dropped em down to 12psi & it did 1.80 60 footers, so yeah semi's can work. You have to get them mega warm though, big skids!

3.55 gears should get you crossing the line just short of 6000rpm(I imagine that the engine would be able to rev harder), so 3.9 gears would be better if you have them, otherwise "run what you brung" & have fun. Remember to pump the fronts up hard if you haven't got any skinny tyres.

Awesome guys cheers... Yeah the engine can rev but I usually change at 6500 anyways. As for the semi slicks we had dramas trying to get them to grip years ago in my brothers escort. Maybe smaller Window of performance? so even if I run the semis all round pump fronts right up?

Maybe we'll be able give couple the v8s some trouble
Cheers

Yes, pump the fronts up hard, you don't want them to slow you down.

I found semi slicks hard to burn off the line. I had Nolethane rear end but. It just wanted to hop away.

wasn't aware of pumping the front but certainly makes sense. Car is roughly 1150kg,4so m21, should be roughly 230hp minimum at rears... 12s do-able?

My LJ is 1202kg, with me in it, so if you can get the traction off the line, 12s are doable. :spoton:
