Hey guys. Just wondering. But to all the gassed up 6's out there, how much timing are you pulling out for what amount of hp putting in.. If that makes sense.. Also does any one tune on a air fuel ratio gauge, if so where's a good place to start or is it best to just see what the plugs are doing..
Any info appreciated..

Hey bud, 20 degrees retarded for 100hp of gas.
I was told that should be plenty when having my engine tuned, having said that it's as much as the crane retard box lets it go to. I'm not sure what the effect of a setting of, say, 15 degrees would have on the tune but I'm about to find out...
I have just installed an Innovate digital air fuel gauge to tune by so not to worry about what the plugs are doing. I'm thinking of just keeping the mixture setting at around the 12.7 mark, but keeping it on the richer side to save the engine. Will keep you posted, I should be tuning in the next week or two. Cheers.

1-2 degrees per 50hp is something that rings a bell..

Alrighty then... Got that wrong!
We had it on 12 degrees last engine combo which worked spot on. This build with more comp/cam/headwork, tried the same & had nothing but dramas. Maybe I'll go with what you guys reckon then.

12.6-13.1 AFR is fine for a N/A engine, but I would be aiming for 11.5 -12 if you are giving it a spray.

So would you reckon if you had the retard set at 12 - 15 you would get massive pre-ignition & misfiring like it was over-fuelling??

Nice, seen two Torana's Drag the Quarter using NOS, and one was a 192 Triple Weber vs a 208, 500 Holley, Weber won bye a Torana length. Dave I

thats quick.. if ya didnt mind could you shed some light on your combo.. just trying to make a small comparison to mine as ive just started playing around with nitrous. i pulled out 3 degrees to 29 and put in 50 shot. went well but was rich running 10.5 afr. just wasnt sure if i pulled too much timing out or not enough..
